“GOODBYE ALWAYS MAKES MY THROAT HURT.”
- Charlie Brown
Message From Superintendent Mueller
Good Afternoon, CUSD,
As we wrap up the final full week of the school year and prepare for staff and families to move on after next Thursday, I would like to take this opportunity, while everyone is still around, to express my heartfelt appreciation to all of you in our school community.
To our students, who bring joy and optimism and hope for the future into our schools every day. To our dedicated staff, whose energy and commitment to creating engaging, safe, and supportive learning environments is truly inspiring. And to our families who make a difference by showing up with unwavering support and involvement throughout the year. Together we are at our best.
Each day in CUSD we are challenged to grow and refine our practices to better serve and meet the needs of our students. I am proud of the work we do in CUSD and I am honored to work alongside talented educators. I am grateful for the opportunity to watch children grow and discover. I love to hear their stories, perspectives, and opinions. Thank you to everyone who has given me the opportunity to lead this amazing school district.
Speaking of our students, check out our Newsroom for some great new stories.
Last night was our regular June Board meeting and we were able to host a special celebration for our retirees. We wish them all the best as they head into their next adventures! The Board will meet once more this month on June 18 to approve the LCAP and Budget and then will reconvene on August 21st.
And finally, a friendly but important reminder: please register your students for the 2025-26 school year. Our enrollment numbers are down and accurate registration helps us plan staffing, class sizes, grade level combination classes in elementary, and number of elective courses offered in middle and high school. Last-minute enrollments can limit opportunities for all students so if your child will be in CUSD next year please complete their enrollment promptly.

Next week is short and busy! We hope to see you at one of our promotion or graduation events.
Karl J. Mueller
Superintendent

As our educators, parents, and community come together to connect, challenge, and champion our students, we are humbled by the outpouring of compliments. What a positive testament to our CUSD family!
- Gisele Renly, Robyn Fullmer, Sarah Jackson, Ryan Glowinkowski, Gizelle O'Loughlin, Kilee Lamm, Rachael Hallett, Jillian Arnold, Kendall Hoshko, Traci Orth, Julie Salvatierra, Anne Burney, Tanya White, Sophia Frost, and Beth Linde: Congratulations to our SSES Testing Team for the successful conclusion of our annual CAASSP cycle! Thank you to our teachers and SpEd/504 team for the care that went into planning and providing calm, positive, and supportive testing environments and appropriate accommodations for our students (so much hard work entering supports and organizing them into a spreadsheet reference!). Traci and Julie kept us on track with technology and progress; Anne Burney and Beth Linde demonstrated generous flexibility with the use of ILab and Library for testing and instruction; and Kendall Hoshko and Tanya White were critical and committed testing supporters, along with our instructional aides and subs. We are super proud of our students and staff and know we demonstrated our best on state tests!
