At Cooper, we want our families to feel welcome and connected, and to have easy access to important dates and information. Be sure to check your in-box on the 1ST AND 3RD THURSDAY of each month for our Cooper Elementary Newsletter! In it, you will find photos of what is happening at Cooper, a calendar of important events, community and school related activities, reminders, links to important sites/surveys/registration forms, and notes from our principal, Mrs. Stariha, and our counselor, Ms. Thompson. It will be sent out via email and will also be shared to our Cooper Elementary Facebook Page. If you aren't already following our Facebook page, the link is included below!

Cooper Families,
It has been an amazing start to the year. With the dawn of a new school year all of our school district buildings are asked to take a deep dive into our progress and struggles from the previous school year. This year our Cooper Shared Leadership Team evaluated our results from last year and settled on our goals for the upcoming school year. Similar to last year, our goals will continue to focus on our math and reading instructional practices.
By May 2027, the percentage of students scoring in "Low Risk" or "Advanced" on reading benchmark assessments will increase by 8 percentage points compared to Fall 2026 baseline.
By May 2027, the percentage of students scoring in "Low Risk" or "Advanced" on math benchmark assessments will increase by 8 percentage points compared to Fall 2026 baseline.
Last year, we saw significant improvement on our Fastbridge data and we would like to see this even more this year. This goal is backed up with positive data and survey results that reflected the hard work and dedication of our students and staff at Cooper. Please look for updates and information on our progress towards our school goals in the newsletters and information that we share with you throughout the year.
Reminder that school will not be in session on Monday, September 7th!

Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS)
As we return to school, one of our top priorities is to help kids feel safe and welcome at school. Students who feel like they are connected with both adults and peers have better attendance and perform better academically. To help all students feel like they belong at Cooper, we spend the first few weeks talking about our expectations of Work, Respect, and Belong (WRB) in all areas of the building. Classrooms create shared behavior expectations. Time is spent learning how to show WRB in the bathrooms, hallways, cafeteria, recess, and at assemblies. When students know what is expected and that those expectations are for everyone, it creates an understanding among everyone. We are all speaking the same language. And then the best part is how we recognize and reward students for following all those expectations! We have lots of celebrations of good behavior - from a Friday prize cart, to all school assemblies, to big trimester school wide celebrations. The images below provide a snapshot of PBIS at Cooper. If you ever have questions, please reach out!
