Come say hello, check out your classroom, and meet your new teacher—it’s the perfect way to kick off an amazing year!

A few reminders as we get the year started:

🕖 Doors open at 7:20 AM each morning
⏰ The tardy bell rings at 7:50 AM
📚 Our school day runs from 7:50 AM – 3:10 PM
🚗 Arrival and dismissal details are linked below—please take a look to help things run smoothly.

On the first day of school, families are welcome to walk students to their classrooms to drop off and say goodbye. Starting on day two, we ask that families give hugs and high fives on the front porch so we can help students build independence and confidence. Thanks for your support as we level up our routines!

This year, you’ll notice some familiar faces in new roles and some new teammates joining our NHE family—we know you’re going to love them! We’re all committed to growing, learning, and leveling up in every way this year.

Household Data Form Household Data Form

zoom_out_map

Richardson ISD is required to collect and report the socioeconomic status of each student to the Texas Education Agency for purposes of annual state accountability ratings and for federal reporting tied to federal funding. Parents of enrolled students are requested to complete this form for that purpose. The income information requested on this form is completely confidential; it is not shared with any entity outside of RISD, and is solely used to determine the socioeconomic status of RISD students. Only a student’s potential economically disadvantaged status, as determined by the information provided on this form, is reported to the Texas Education Agency, and TEA maintains that information as confidential. RISD practices are in accordance with the Protection of Pupil Rights Amendment (PPRA). Additional information regarding PPRA can be found in the RISD Student And Parent Guidebook.

It is very important that RISD families complete this Household Family Data in order for RISD schools to receive Title I and State Compensatory Education funding. If eligible, this funding directly benefits your child's school through additional employees and resources like tutoring services, additional technology, and professional training for teachers at your child’s school. RISD wants to continue to provide these important learning supports at our eligible schools, but that is dependent on parent/guardian assistance through completion of this form.

Complete Form HERE
This form is how our school secures federal funding. We need a form from EVERY household.

New Volunteer Management System New Volunteer Management System

We’re excited to announce the launch of our new Volunteer Management System (VMS) —Verkada, a user-friendly platform designed to make it easier than ever for families, community members, and partners to get involved in our schools. Verkada is a system the district has already been using for visitor management and will replace VOLY for all campus and district volunteer management.

Whether you’re a longtime RISD volunteer or new to the district, our new system simplifies the entire process — from pre-screening to completing a background check to checking in at any one of the RISD campuses.

All visitors will be required to check in at the front office with a state issued drivers license or ID.

Getting Started Is Easy

  1. Complete the application. Click here to complete your 2025-2026 Richardson ISD Volunteer Application

  2. Upload Required Documents and Watch Required Training. The pre-screening application will require you to upload a valid state-issued driver's License/ID or a passport and watch the RISD volunteer orientation presentation.

  3. Seek Opportunities. You can now inquire about volunteer opportunities directly at your school of choice.

  4. Track Hours. We will be able to track your hours and see your impact.

Safety is always our top priority. Verkada includes built-in background checks to ensure all volunteers meet our district’s safety standards.

Your information is always protected by industry-standard security protocols.

Before entering the building, you will need to push the red buzzer. Our office staff will ask how they can help you before letting you in. This is a requirement for everyone, even if our office staff knows who you are.

We appreciate your support and patience with this process.

How to Sign-up for RISD Bus Transportation

Visit our RISD Transportation Page https://web.risd.org/transportation/ and click on Sign Up For Bus Transportation to complete the online Bus Enrollment Request form so that we can determine if your child qualifies for bus transportation service.

Please note that the RISD Transportation Department provides bus service from the bus stop to campus for students who live more than 2 miles away from their home campus.

Students who live within 2 miles are not eligible for bus transportation per state guidelines.

Special education students may qualify for door-to-campus bus service, but that qualification process is initiated by special education staff at your student's school.

If your child qualifies for bus transportation service, an email will be sent in early August to the parent/guardian email address on file that will include specific bus route information for the 2025-2026 school year.

PRE-K

ROUTE SERVICES

Transportation is available for RISD Pre-K students who qualify.

Each Pre-K route is equipped with 5 point harnesses and a bus monitor. Please contact student.transportation@risd.org or call 469-593-5922 for info regarding Pre-K transportation procedures and rider eligibility.

If you have questions related to this message or student transportation, please contact RISD Transportation at 469-593-5900 or message student.transportation@risd.org.

We look forward to serving your students in the 25-26 school year.
