What a fantastic turn-out at the Elementary Spirit KNIGHT for the McCallum football game on Friday! I know many families left at half-time and didn't get to see the Knights march to victory (19-10), but it was so fun to watch! My first FallFest was even more heart-warming! It was a beautiful day for families to enjoy the Autumn temps and frolic around in costumes. My cup is full!

Next week, my cup and my schedule overfloweth! If you have a 4th or 5th grader in the Green Peace Team, alert them that we meet tomorrow. Our student leaders will vote on the Fall Movie Night feature film (either "Miniscule" or "Fern Gully") and prepare to deliver mini-lessons about how to be 'responsible' for our new pond. Volunteers who signed up to help with mini-lessons will be assigned in groups of 2 or 3 to join me during my counselor classroom visits over the next two weeks. You can see a sneak preview below.

Fifth grade families, the transition to middle school is upon us! All fifth graders will tune in to a GoogleMeet livestream presentation from the magnet schools this THU OCT 29 @ 9am in their Block 1 classes. On Friday, I'll visit each homeroom during Science blocks to review the information and answer their main questions. You can preview my lesson slides HERE. Scroll down for a screenshot of the one-pager that I'll keep updating and you'll want to refer back to, since it has convenient links to websites and application forms. I will also enter info night dates in to Konstella for reminders. My apologies on the last minute notice for Lamar Fine Arts Info Night - it's THIS TUESDAY OCT 27 @ 6pm @ Lamar.

Finally, my first round of lunch groups ends this week. I'll use the short week of Nov 4-6 to notify families of my next round of group members. If your student has asked for or been recommended by a teacher to work with a McCallum PAL mentor this year, I'll send those notifications out this week. Please try to complete the permission form by Friday October 30. Our PALS will visit for the first time on WED NOV 4.
