Boys Basketball defeats Mt. Morris, falls to Frankenmuth
The Mustangs dominated Mt. Morris 74-46 in the first round of MHSAA Districts play on Monday, February 23. Clio raced out to a 28-12 lead after the first quarter and never let up!
The Mustangs balanced scoring attack was led by Harper Wozniak with 21 points. Other contributors on the night were...
Kaden McGrath 10 pts
Mason Taylor 10 points
Ethan Yeager 9 points
Kyle Duby 6 points
Easton Pettengill 5 points
Robby White 5 points
Kaden Boggs 4 points
Rashad Bradley 3 points
Hayden Hahn 2 points
Unfortunately, the momentum wasn't enough for the Mustangs to overcome Frankenmuth in the semi-final. Led by Harper Wozniak (23 pts, 7 rebs., 3 steals), the season ended with a 79-48 defeat.
For players and fans, this season had a lot to be proud of. The Mustangs ended the season with a 12-12 record (most wins since 2019-2020). With a core of Freshman/Sophomores and outstanding senior leadership, the 2025-2026 Mustangs had one of their better seasons in the last 25 years!
The future is bright for Clio Basketball!
7th Grade Boys Basketball Remains Undefeated
The 7th Grade Boys Basketball remains undefeated after defeating 7-1 Corunna on Wednesday at Clio Middle School. The Mustangs at one point built a 27 point lead before coasting to the finish line. The Cavs did enjoy a significant size advantage, but the Mustangs were successful playing a fast pace game.
The team followed Wednesday's win with a victory over Brandon on Thursday, February 26. Once again, aggressive and locked in team defense was the method of operation for success. The team remains undefeated on the season, looking to close out the final week of the season on a high note. Go, Mustangs!
Most recently, the team faced Goodrich on Monday, March 2nd, defeating the Martians 70-55. After building a 28 point lead, the Mustangs coasted to an 8-0 record. With one contest remaining, the Mustangs will be fired up to complete an undefeated season. Lake Fenton will make an attempt to derail those plans on Wednesday at Clio Middle School, 4:15pm.
