AP Language and Composition AP Language and Composition

Mr. Falk's AP English Language and Composition students took a break from writing essays in order to create their very own pet rocks! Inspired and supported by our librarian, Mrs. Ruesga, students brought their own rocks from home and then used a wide variety of crafting materials (including googly eyes, fake teeth, swatches of fabric, paint, and yarn) to bring their rocks to life. These students have been working hard at reading, analyzing, and discussing the essays in Annie Dillard's collection Teaching a Stone to Talk. It was nice to take a detour from reading and writing in order to complete a hands-on craft. Thanks again to Mrs. Ruesga for her brilliant idea and for providing all of the crafting materials.

Changemakers Command The World Stage With Breakthrough Environmental Blueprint Changemakers Command The World Stage With Breakthrough Environmental Blueprint

Two American teens—Ruihang Zhang of California, a student at Rowland High School, and Eirene Hope Liu of New York—captivated the United Nations on October 24, 2025, with a bold call to rethink global environmental action. Walking into a room dominated by longtime diplomats, they challenged world leaders to confront the failures of decades-old waste policies and to acknowledge the rising generation’s demand for real progress.

Their message centered on a youth-driven, waste-free future built on innovation, accountability, and community leadership. By the time they left the podium, the room had shifted: delegates were listening not out of courtesy, but conviction. Their speech signaled a new phase of environmental diplomacy—one where young voices are not just present, but impossible to ignore.

Seniors! Financial Aid Season Is Here—Don’t Miss Out!

Seniors, it’s time to complete your FAFSA or CADAA to unlock financial aid for college. To help you stay on track, the College & Career Center, Counseling and our Student Financial Aid Ambassadors will "clip" seniors (with a decorated clothespin) as friendly reminders to submit their applications and spread financial aid awareness across campus.

Show your clip at our booth this Thursday at lunch to claim a prize. Seniors can get support with their FAFSA/CADAA in the College & Career Center daily. We’ll continue hosting outreach events to help every senior complete their application on time.

Remember, the state deadline is March 2nd to be considered for the Cal Grant, which provides free money to help pay tuition at California colleges and universities. Don’t miss this opportunity—complete your FAFSA or CADAA as soon as possible!

The College & Career Center has released a Special Edition Financial Aid Bulletin!
Take a moment to read it and learn about the different types of aid available, how to apply, and what to expect after you submit your FAFSA or CADAA. This resource is designed to help you and your family understand the financial aid process from start to finish.
