9/18 Meeting Recap
This was the kick-off meeting for OHVA Boosters at the beginning of the school year, where leadership team members introduced themselves and discussed upcoming events and initiatives. The meeting covered the recent back-to-school picnics held across 29 locations statewide, with Julene sharing that 2,155 families accessed information about the events through a S'more document. Leaders discussed plans for the year including DC trips for 8th-12th graders in October, fall activities like pumpkin patches and nature hikes, and upcoming online safety assemblies for parents and students. The group introduced a new "Come for a Boost" virtual support session for parents, with feedback on timing preferences between morning and evening sessions. Box Tops fundraising was reported at $463 raised so far, with plans for an October contest offering squishy prizes for top earners. The meeting also addressed the OHVA Learning Coach community platform and its various groups, and concluded with a discussion about reviving the Booster Card program to send encouragement to students and learning coaches in need.
Boosters aren't perfect, but...
you should balance what you do to volunteer to remember that your student's academic success comes first! Your first job as a Learning Coach is to support your child/student.
The students of Boosters should be current with lessons, attending class and current with expected attendance benchmarks. We understand all of your hard work as you support your student every day! Thank you for all you do!
