Principal's Message
Hiteon Community,
One of my favorite events that will forever stay in my memory is the Culture Night at Hiteon two weeks ago. Nearly a year ago, Jen Weibel first shared the idea of hosting a Culture Night, and thanks to the many hours of planning and volunteering—especially from Jen Weibel and Theresa Fear—the evening was a tremendous success. It was a wonderful celebration of the diversity and rich cultures within our community. From the performances, to the cultural tables, crafts, and delicious food, our community came together in a way that truly reflects what makes Hiteon strong. When we have the opportunity to learn about one another, we build stronger relationships and deeper respect for each other. Thank you, Hiteon community, for always showing up and helping create such a strong and connected school community.

Why 7:44? Because at 7:45 am, the learning fun begins! Being in the classroom by 7:44 means your child is ready to roll when the bell rings. Every Minute Matters! Arrive on time = start the day with a smile. No rushing, no missing morning fun. Builds habits that help kids shine for a lifetime.
Tips to Beat the Clock: Pick out clothes and pack backpacks the night before. Set an earlier “leave the house” time than you think. Try to be on campus by 7:35 am for a calm start.
Please note that the doors will close at 7:45 a.m., and students arriving after this time will be counted as tardy. Let’s make mornings smooth and start every day strong!

Another awesome celebration because our students filled the Kindness Pom Pom bin.
Let's all wear our grade assigned color shirts to celebrate kindness and the first day of Spring.

Arrival & Dismissal Traffic Flow
We want to remind everyone of the importance to follow the BSD traffic flow map for Hiteon's arrival and dismissal procedure. For those parents that do car drop off and pick up the safety of our students, parents and community is of upmost importance. We want to assure that traffic flows as smooth as possible in our parking lot as well as on our neighboring streets.
Please remember that the ONLY EXIT from the Hiteon parking lot is the Brockman Driveway and to ALWAYS ONLY TURN RIGHT out of the parking lot. This will assure that the traffic does not backup into the parking lot.

Fun Run Sponsorship Opportunities
The Hiteon PTC invites you to partner with us as a Fun Run Sponsor! The Fun Run is our main fundraiser, supporting programs like the Science Fair, Art Literacy, and Oregon Battle of the Books, as well as community-building events including Bingo Night, Spring Carnival, and Trunk or Treat. Our combined funds raised also help provide new technology, school assemblies, field trips, and other student enrichment opportunities.
We can't do this without our amazingly supportive community! This year, we are offering 3 levels of sponsorship: Community Partner, School Champion and Hawk Hero. Check out the attached flyer to see the benefits from the different levels! If you sponsored in the past, THANK YOU! We hope you will consider sponsoring again this year!
Please, reach out to hiteonfunrun@hiteonptc.org for more information.
Thank you!!!!

Volunteer Check-In Requirements
It has come to our attention that there’s a need for clarification regarding school volunteers and whether they are required to sign in through the Raptor kiosk. In short, the answer is YES.
While volunteers may use the Raptor Safe app to sign up for events in advance, this action does not constitute official check-in upon arrival. Signing up through the app simply indicates intent to participate, it does not sign them into the event. This distinction is critical for two key reasons:
Mandatory Sex Offender Screening: The real-time background check is only triggered when a volunteer checks in at the on-site Raptor tablet kiosk. Without this step, the required screening doesn’t occur.
Emergency Accountability: If a volunteer is not signed in through the kiosk, the school has no record of their presence on campus. This poses a serious risk in the event of an emergency where accurate headcount and location tracking are essential.
Every volunteer must physically check in at the kiosk each time that they arrive on campus. This is the only way to ensure compliance with safety protocols and to maintain a secure environment for our students and staff.
If you haven't done your background check to volunteer at Hiteon, you can start on the Volunteer webpage on the district website. The entire process — including the review of the Child Abuse Prevention & Reporting and Adult Sexual Misconduct training materials — should take less than 10 minutes to complete.
Thank you for prioritizing our students’ safety and for your willingness to volunteer in BSD.
