A message from Mr. Cornwall
Hello Art City Parents/Guardians and Students,
We are up and rolling this year! Our students and staff are excited to get their GAME ON this year. We encourage and support our parents/guardians to engage with their student and the school in our Game On this year. There will be many opportunities to promote and support the reading growth of our Eagles this year! Please read this newsletter carefully, it contains a lot of important information!
As always, please do not hesitate to reach out to me.
Sincerely,
Clint Cornwall

Fluency Homework(blue folders)
Our Fluency Homework folders have come home this week. We encourage our students to participate in this additional reading fluency practice daily. It should only take 5 minutes a night to listen to your child read! It is valuable time to read with your child. I know that we are busy-even if an older sibling assists is great! These folders will be returned every Monday morning and they will go home on Monday afternoon with a new passage.
The students who consistently participated made additional growth in their reading! We would love our family's and community to support us in our reading endeavor!
Discipline Rubric(blue paper)
Our teachers and staff work hard to ensure we have a safe school where we hold students to high expectations both academically and behaviorally. The following documents were taught and reviewed with your students at the beginning of the year. We would like parents to review them with their students, sign them and return them to their teachers. Attached below are the rubrics we use for Minor and Major offenses and all the rewards and incentives as well.
**Please review and sign these Discipline Rubrics with your students.
**Please have them return them to their teacher by Friday, September 18th.
Important Before and After School Instructions
No Students Before 8:15 at school!!
PLEASE DO NOT HAVE YOUR STUDENTS COME TO SCHOOL BEFORE 8:15! Breakfast and supervision do not begin until that time. WE ASK STUDENTS TO NOT STAY IN THE CHURCH PARKING LOT TO PLAY BEFORE OR AFTER SCHOOL. We appreciate your support with this!
Vision Screenings
In accordance with the Utah State Board of Education requirements, Art City Elementary will be holding our annual vision screening for ALL students on Thursday, September 30th. Vision screening helps us identify students who may be having trouble seeing clearly in class. If your child wears glasses or contacts, please ensure they are wearing them to school or have them with them for the screening on September 30th. If your child does not pass the vision screening, you will receive a notice with information about recommended follow-up care. Please note that a vision screening is NOT the same as an eye exam by an eye doctor. If you do not want your child to participate in the vision screening at school, please email me by September 23rd and notify me. My email is necia.bess@nebo.edu.
If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know.
Thank you!
