I want to share some important news regarding our administrative team. Our 6th grade Assistant Principal, Mr. Clark Fredrickson, has accepted a position as Assistant Principal at Bee Cave Middle School. This new opportunity also allows him to be closer to home. While we are truly sad to see him go, we are incredibly grateful for his leadership, positivity, and dedication, which have made a lasting impact on Hudson Bend Middle School. BCMS is very lucky to have his many gifts and strengths on their team moving forward.

I am also excited to announce that we have hired his replacement, Mr. Donald Roeder, who will officially join us tomorrow, November 4th. To support a smooth transition, Mr. Roeder will be shadowing Mr. Fredrickson Tuesday through Friday of this week as he becomes familiar with our students, staff, and systems. Mr. Fredrickson's last day at HBMS will be this Friday, November 7th.

Donald joins us most recently from Iowa, where he served as an Assistant Principal and Dean of Students. His background also includes experience as an Athletic Director, Special Education Supervisor, teacher, and coach in both football and basketball. We received applications from across the state, and Donald quickly rose to the top. His experience, strong leadership skills, and student-centered approach will make him a wonderful addition to our administrative team.

We are thrilled to have Mr. Roeder joining our team and look forward to everyone meeting him soon!

Our Honors band students competed at TMEA Region 32 District Band Auditions. This is an individual contest for our students to compete against other schools in our competitive district for a chance to compete at the next level of region band auditions. Out of our honors band we had 7 students who performed extremely well and made the district band! This is a huge honor as our students worked extremely hard on their region music to earn a spot in the district band and are competing against a large number of students from other schools! Congratulations to the following students for making the district band: Abigail Cutro (Euphonium), Kai Talaber (Euphonium), Noel Talbot (Bassoon), Sarilyne Aguilar Delgado (Clarinet) , Isabella Ceci (Clarinet) , Ellison Park (Saxophone), and Claire Guest (Flute)!

We also had one student move onto the next round and will be competing on November 1st to try to earn a spot in the TMEA Region 32 All Region Band! Good luck to Claire Guest as she competes this Saturday!

School Library Advisory Council School Library Advisory Council

In response to Senate Bill 13, our Board of Trustees has established the Lake Travis ISD School Library Advisory Council (SLAC). The purpose of the SLAC is to formalize a collaborative process between librarians, parents, and community members in the ongoing development of strong library collections that support student achievement and meet state standards. This process helps ensure transparency, parent involvement, and a strong library program that strengthens student achievement while nurturing a lifelong appreciation, habit, and love of reading.

The SLAC works with librarians and district staff to develop a recommended list of library materials for procurement, including donated titles. At least 30 days before the Board’s vote, the proposed procurement list will be made publicly available for parents and community members to review and provide feedback. The Board will review these recommendations, consider any proposed changes, and make the final decision to approve or reject the materials. The SLAC will also recommend procedures for handling challenges to library materials and review challenges according to law before making recommendations to the Board.

Visit the SLAC webpage to access the Proposed Titles for Library Procurement List, Proposed Titles for Library Procurement List Feedback Form, and the Library Materials Challenge Form.

For questions or additional information regarding SLAC reviews or library material challenges, please contact Tasha Barker at watersbarkert@ltisdschools.org, or at 512-533-6036.
