Monomoy Integrated Preschool program announces one peer opening
Monomoy's Integrated Preschool program serves children ages 3-4 who have been found eligible for special education services due to a disability who learn alongside more typically developing students, called community friends. Community friends help to model age-appropriate social, play, language, and learning skills. The district currently has one remaining opening for a community friend. The opening is due to families moving out of the district, allowing the district to add peers to maintain the required balance.
The open spot is in the three-year-old afternoon session of the integrated preschool program. The program is held four days per week for 2.5 hours each day, and is housed at Harwich Elementary School. Community friends attend the integrated preschool at no cost; however, transportation is not provided.
Families interested in applying for the community friend student placement should contact Erin Cronen, MRSD Early Childhood Coordinator, at 617-314-8937 or ecronen@monomoy.edu. If more applicants apply than there are available spots, a lottery will be held.

"The Outsiders" Actor and Crew Profiles by MRHS 'The Bite' Student Newspaper writer, Marek Punty:
Spanish Classes Commemorate DÃa de los Muertos
In Spanish classes, our students honored the Mexican tradition of DÃa de los Muertos — the Day of the Dead — a heartfelt celebration that remembers and pays tribute to loved ones who have passed away. This ancient tradition reflects the beauty of Hispano American culture, where remembrance is expressed with color, music, flowers, and love.
Students chose someone meaningful to them — from family members to admired figures from national and international communities — making the experience deeply personal and culturally rich. Together, they built altars (ofrendas) filled with respect, creativity, and vibrant symbolism.
Beyond its artistic and emotional impact, this cultural experience allowed students to practice the Spanish language in an authentic and meaningful way, fostering empathy, curiosity, and cross-cultural understanding.
We are incredibly proud of our students for embracing this project with such enthusiasm and heart. May we continue to inspire our youth to grow as engaged citizens and compassionate global citizens who celebrate and honor every culture’s story.

The Children’s Cove and Monomoy Teen TASK (Taking a Stand for Kids) Force is a group for high school students interested in making a positive impact in their community. Its mission is to raise awareness of the programs and services Children’s Cove provides and the public health crisis of child sexual abuse and exploitation. The Teen TASK Force provides the tools for teens to advocate for peers seeking help and to raise awareness of the supports and services of Children’s Cove. TASK Force members meet throughout the school year, learn about issues facing our community, as well as complete a project to raise awareness in their school and community.
