Dear Calhoun Early Childhood School Families,

Last night was truly one of my favorite events in Calhoun history. Our first Annual Culture Night was nothing short of incredible, and I am still overwhelmed by the amazing turnout and the kind words shared by so many of you. It was a beautiful reminder of what makes our school community so special.

Events like this don’t just happen. They are the result of countless hours of planning, collaboration, and heart. I want to extend my deepest gratitude to the families who generously gave their time and talents to create cultural displays. The care, creativity, and pride that went into each one were evident, and we were truly blown away by how thoughtfully each culture was represented.

To our Calhoun staff: thank you for making the evening so joyful and memorable. From the engaging displays and performances to the vibrant attire, your enthusiasm and willingness to fully participate brought the night to life. It meant so much to see everyone embrace the spirit of the event and celebrate alongside our families.

I would also like to give a very special shoutout to Mrs. Amy Ceron, our Blended Pre-K teacher in Big Bend who organized this event. It began as her vision, and through her dedication, organization, and tireless effort, that vision became a reality. Simply put, Culture Night would not have happened without her leadership and commitment.

Thank you all for helping create such a meaningful and memorable evening. I am already looking forward to next year!

Warmly,

Principal Anderson

2025 - 2026 2nd Semester Recess Rangers Sign Up

Calling all amazing parents! Our new volunteer program called Recess Rangers is a success!   As a reminder, each month, one parent per family can volunteer for a morning or afternoon playground shift to engage with and support our students during recess. Rangers help monitor student safety, engage kids in play, and assist staff as needed — all while having fun outdoors with our students! * Volunteers do not have to stay for the whole shift. We ask that volunteers stay for a minimum of 30 minutes since it is taking a slot.  Volunteer Details: AM Session: 7:45 AM – 10:45 AM (please stay a minimum of 30 minutes within this timeframe) PM Session: 12:05 PM – 2:35 PM (please stay a minimum of 30 minutes within this timeframe) 🔹 One volunteer per session, per day 🔹 You may choose up to one day in each of the remaining months and either an AM or PM time slot 🔹 Sign up early — spots are limited! Please add your child's first name, last name, and teacher's name to the notes in your sign-up. Volunteers are required to have an approved background check on file.  Please complete the application using the link below.  https://www.prosper-isd.net/page/volunteer-background-check Be advised that background checks may take up to two weeks to be approved.  To check if you have been approved, please contact the front office at 945-678-4000 before you arrive for your selected time slot. Please see the Recess Rangers Responsibilities Pact to read over the expectations as a recess volunteer.  You will be provided a copy to sign in agreement when you arrive to campus.   Thank you for helping us build a strong, safe, and playful school community. We can’t wait to see you on the playground!

✅ Reminders ✅ Reminders

🕢 Please remember that while our school time starts at 7:30am, we are outside and greeting kids starting at 7:00am. We have had very few cars arriving between 7:00am-7:20am. If you wait until the last minute to bring your child in the carpool line, you run the risk of arriving tardy. Please make sure to plan ahead and utilize the line before 7:15am. You will get in and out with no wait!

⏰ For safety and efficiency, students will not be released after 2:00pm. Please plan ahead for appointments or other time commitments to ensure your child is picked up before this time.

🚗 Please remember that we run two car lines at the same time:

From the North: Turn left into the left lane of the parking lot. This lane is for Piney Woods, Gulf Coast, and South Plains.

From the South: Turn right into the parking lot and use the right lane, which wraps around to the back of the building. This lane is for Big Bend, Hill Country, and Panhandle.

📵Please enter the parking lot with caution and avoid using your phone while driving. As you turn in, use your blinker to signal. This helps us clearly distinguish Calhoun families from neighborhood traffic and ensures a smoother, safer arrival for everyone.

If you attended our PTO events like Touch-A-Truck or our Family Engagement Night and had your picture taken by Panhandle Blended Pre-k Teacher, Adrian Gonzalez, he has kindly created a folder to house the great pictures he has taken of our families. I will keep this in the Ranger Report each week for you to be able to access at your convenience.

Named by HEB’s Excellence in Education Awards as the Best Large District in the State of Texas, Prosper ISD has an established 67-year history that is grounded in the humble roots of a farming community, now soaring to the fastest growing school district in Texas, due in no small part to the pursuit of excellence in the arts, academics and athletics.
