A Message From Your Principal
Dear EWS Families,
I hope you all had a wonderful week! We have had an incredibly busy and productive few days here at Eames Way School, and I am thrilled to share some of our latest highlights!
First, I want to extend a massive thank you to all of the families and students who came out on Sunday to help clean up our Outdoor Classroom! Working alongside you, Mrs. Milch, and Mr. Scolponeti was an absolute pleasure. Together, we did some serious heavy lifting—removing more than 100 bags of leaves, a couple of fallen trees, and tons of brush and briars. The space looks so much better now! Our teachers and students are incredibly excited to use this refreshed outdoor area in the coming weeks, especially as the weather continues to get warmer. Thank you for helping us!
Inside the building, our third graders have been working exceptionally hard to prepare for their Poetry Festival this week. They did a fantastic job, and I want to give a special shout-out to our wonderful third-grade teachers, Mr. Flanagan and Mr. Marshalka, for helping guide and prepare our students for this beautiful event.
We also had the pleasure of meeting more new friends during our second day of Kindergarten Screening. We are so happy to welcome our newest and youngest EWS students to the pack this coming fall! Meanwhile, on the older end of our student body, our fifth graders received a special visit from Furnace Brook Middle School. They had a great opportunity to learn more about the exciting future experiences and expectations that await them as 6th graders next year.
As a reminder, there will be no school on Monday, May 25th. I wish all of our families a wonderful, safe, and happy long weekend as we take the time to honor and remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country this Memorial Day.
Warmly,
Ms. Bishop

Nurse Update
Attention Grade 5 Parents:
Postural screening will be taking place on May 18th during PE class by the nurse. The Department of Public Health guidelines mandate that students in Grades 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9 are screened annually for scoliosis. If your child is already followed for scoliosis, please let the nurse know. More detailed information will be sent out to 5th grade parents. If you would like your child to opt out of this screening, please send in a note or email to Alison White at awhite@mpsd.org.
Guidelines for return to school after an illness:
Fever over 100 degrees (child must be fever-free for 24 hours, without the use of Tylenol or Motrin, to return to school).
Vomiting and/or diarrhea (if your child has had any vomiting or diarrhea within the past 24 hours, they should not return to school).
Diagnosis of communicable disease such as strep throat or conjunctivitis (if diagnosed with a communicable disease and prescribed antibiotics, your child must not return to school until they have been on antibiotics for at least 24 hours. A doctor's note should be brought to school via backpack, emailed to awhite@mpsd.org, or faxed to 339-244-2475.
Reminders as the weather changes:
Hydration: Please be sure your child brings a water bottle to school each day-preferably one that is easily refillable at our refill stations.
Snacks: Please remember to send in a healthy snack for your child everyday.
Clothing: Have children dress in layers-the building can become quite warm, and children can overheat very easily.
Sun safety: Sunscreen must be applied at home before coming to school.
Tick safety: There has been an increase in the prevalence of ticks. Parents should frequently check their children for ticks, especially around the ankles, legs, and head region after coming inside from any outdoor activities.
Spring Cleaning:
As you spring clean, don’t forget that any donations of lightly used clothing would be greatly appreciated by the School Nurse. Any shirts, sweatshirts, and pants(preferably leggings or sweatpants) in sizes 6, 8, 10, 12 and 14 would be a welcome addition to the nurses’ collection.
Lunch Menu & Nutrition Update
Breakfast and lunch are free options to all students for the 2025-2026 school year. Please note, breakfast is available upon arrival from 8:35-8:50 am, however, students can also get breakfast during the morning once the school day starts if they skipped breakfast or forgot their snack. For more information, please visit MPSD School Nutrition.
My School Bucks is an online account for families to easily manage and pay for school meals, a la carte items (such as ice cream), etc. These accounts stay with students throughout grades K-12 and funds can be replenished when balances get low. Here's the information from the MPSD Nutrition webpage on how to set up your account - My School Bucks.

Volunteering at EWS
CORI applications need to be redone every few years and we are currently in a three-year cycle covering 2023-2026. All volunteers need to complete a CORI, even if you were approved prior to 2023. Please visit the Front Office to complete a CORI application and provide a copy of your license - it will only take a minutes. Applications are then reviewed by MPSD Central Office, which can take up to a week to process. If you have any questions, please contact Val Quigley (781-834-5090 or vquigley@mpsd.org).
However, to clarify, if you have an approved CORI from last year, it is still valid for this school year!
