DISTRICT ANNOUNCEMENTS

Emergency Communications Reminders
As we approach the coldest months of the year, now is a good time to ensure you are following the correct district communication channels in the event of closures or an emergency. Follow the checklist below to make sure you receive important updates from LISD:
Update contact information in Skyward Family Access.
Bookmark LISD.net, or your child’s specific campus.
In the event of an emergency, LISD will use terminology from Standard Response Protocol, our adopted emergency response standard. Learn more about the difference between Secure, Lockdown, Evacuate, Shelter and Hold HERE.
Network Maintenance | Dec. 27
The LISD Technology Department will be performing needed network maintenance on Dec. 27 from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. This maintenance will cause an internet outage for LISD. This will affect any LISD resource that needs internet access, including at-home student iPad connectivity and staff VPN connectivity. All functionality will be restored by 1 p.m. on Dec. 27.
Google Storage Update | Thank You!
We are so appreciative of your help to clean out your student's Google Drive. Removing unnecessary files is crucial to helping us preserve the Google storage we need as a district. As a reminder, if your student needs to transfer files from their LISD Google Drive to their LISD OneDrive, please use these steps.

AROUND THE VILLE
Lewisville ISD Hosts Elected Officials to Discuss Legislative Priorities
Lewisville ISD recently hosted state elected officials for a presentation of LISD’s legislative priorities. The event provided time for district leadership and the LISD Board of Trustees to share their thoughts on education-related topics for policymakers to consider during the upcoming legislative session. LISD Superintendent Dr. Lori Rapp opened the meeting by welcoming the attending legislators. In attendance were State Senator Drew Springer, State Representative-Elects Ben Bumgarner, Richard Hayes and Kronda Thimesch. State Senator-Elect Tan Parker was represented by Jack Martin. Throughout the event, legislators were met by LISD representatives that advocated for policies pertaining to the district’s Four Cornerstones: Student Learning, Student Experience, Resource Stewardship and Community Engagement. For more information about LISD's legislative priorities, visit LISD.net/legislativepriorities.
Dr. Rapp Hears From Young Leaders Through New Student Advisory Groups
As stated in the district’s One LISD campaign, Dr. Rapp is focused on communication, connection and culture to bring our community closer than ever. To accomplish this, she has hosted several events to connect with LISD staff and families, celebrate the culture of our district and communicate regularly with our stakeholders. But one group of stakeholders is perhaps the most excited to be involved in these important conversations - LISD students.
Lakeland Elementary Receives Surprise Act of Kindness from Dallas Cowboys, Ashley Homestore, Kendra Scott
Teachers and staff at Lakeland Elementary encourage and spread kindness to each student every day on campus. This time, with the help of Ashley HomeStore, the Dallas Cowboys and Kendra Scott, a special surprise and act of kindness was revealed just for the teachers on Tuesday morning. The entire Lakeland campus, along with members from LISD’s administration, gathered in the school gymnasium for a pep rally and presentation headlined by Dallas Cowboys defensive lineman Neville Gallimore, who revealed that Lakeland was the recipient of Ashley’s Act of Kindness where the teacher’s lounge received a total remodel.
A Legacy of Service
For most of us, defining our lives with one word would be nearly impossible. But for substitute educator Mr. John Campbell, this would be easy. His life is clearly defined by just one word – service. We sat down with Mr. Campbell to talk about his time in LISD in honor of Substitute Educator Day. But what we got was far more than just a simple story about his time in the classroom. Instead we got a picture of 75 years of service throughout the life of John Campbell, and how the lessons he has learned are being passed down to our students on a daily basis.
Students in TCHS Feeder Pattern Attend Leadership Event
Students in The Colony High School’s feeder pattern received leadership lessons and advice from local leaders in the community. In collaboration with Lewisville ISD, the Lewisville Education Foundation, The Colony Chamber of Commerce and The City of The Colony, 70 students from seven TCHS feeder pattern schools were chosen by campus officials to attend the student leadership event last Friday at Andretti’s Indoor Karting.
From the beginning, Lewisville Independent School District has committed to ensuring all students have the resources they need and want to ultimately thrive in a future they create.
