Dear HES Caregivers,

What a wonderful week we've had back at school after April vacation! It’s always heartwarming to watch our young Sharks reconnect, laugh, and settle back into the rhythm of learning and friendship.

This week, our 4th grade ambassadors led an incredible All Shark Meeting on Tuesday. Through a creative skit, engaging slideshows, and a colorful poster, they taught the entire school about the importance of respect. I had the pleasure of reading I’m Sorry You Got Mad by Kyle Lukoff, a beautiful story that sparked thoughtful conversations about how to respectfully move forward after disagreements. A special shout-out to Ms. Krystofolski’s class for leading our school song and to Ms. Branchut’s class, who joined Ms. Riley in leading the song All About Respect. It was a joyful celebration of our shared values!

We also wrapped up Autism Appreciation Month with our beloved robot parade. The creativity and color on display were amazing—what a perfect way to celebrate the diversity and uniqueness that make our school community so special. Be sure to check out the pictures included in this newsletter!

Looking ahead to next week:

  • Our 4th graders will take the stage in Willy Wonka, directed by Ms. Riley with the help of Ms. Hirschberger, Mr. Weimer, and Ms. Senior. They’ll perform during the school day and again at night for families. We can’t wait to see them shine!

  • Our 3rd graders will also be taking the MCAS mathematics sections. Thank you for helping your students arrive rested, on time, and ready to do their best!

As always, we’re grateful for your support and partnership. Wishing you a fantastic weekend. Enjoy the beautiful spring weather!

Warmly,
Christie

With any luck we'll see strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, tomatoes, green beans, corn, and mini pumpkins soon. In the meantime, we plan to enjoy our birds, beautiful flowers, and pollinators.

Digital Mindfulness and Online Safety Workshop Replay Digital Mindfulness and Online Safety Workshop Replay

Monomoy recently had a visit from Richard Guerry of the Institute for Responsible Online and Cellphone Communication, thanks to our collaboration with Children's Cove -- he spoke to students in Grade 3-7, raising awareness about digital mindfulness and online safety, and he also held an evening session for parents and caregivers. If you'd like to access the important material Guerry shared, the information for the workshop replay is below:

Per the handbook, if your child is unable to attend school, please enter the absence in PickUp Patrol and/or call our designated attendance line, 617-848-0115, as early as possible. Soon after arrival, our office staff begins to call the caregivers of absent students if we haven't already heard from them. This is important, as we want to ensure that all students are safe. Your phone message with the reason for the absence is all we need. While an email to the teacher is helpful, it sometimes doesn't make its way to the office staff. Thank you for your help!
