Principal's Message
Hello Yowell Families!
This week we are launching our annual fundraiser. We are raising money to improve both of our playgrounds, and in addition, we are applying for a matching playground grant. With the money we’ve already raised, plus what we will raise this year — and hopefully with matching funds — we are dreaming big about making major improvements to our outdoor space! 🌳✨
We are also thrilled to announce that Yowell will have a Girls on the Run team this fall. There is a brand-new curriculum this year, so even if your child has participated before, this will feel like a fresh new experience! 👟💖
For our 5th grade families, Instrument Selection Night for band is coming up this Wednesday, August 27th at 6:00 pm at Culpeper Middle School. Please note this is the only night for students to try instruments before deciding what they’ll play.
A reminder — this Thursday is the last day to take advantage of the Chromebook Protection Plan for grades 1–5. For $30, it covers two accidental breakages for the year.
And finally, there is a lunch menu change for tomorrow, so please be sure to check out our weekly newsletter with the updated menu, resource days, and so much more.
We are so grateful for your support in making Yowell such a special place. Thank you for sharing your amazing kids with us each day.
Have an amazing evening!

Welcome Back, 5th-Graders and Families!
We are pleased to invite you to join the 5th-Grade Band! This is a wonderful opportunity to learn to play an instrument before you begin middle school. We are very excited to allow students to physically try the instruments before selecting which one to play! The instrument choices are Flute, Clarinet, Trumpet, Trombone, and Baritone. Classes begin the week of September 15th with instruments! Class schedules for each school are provided below.

You can register for 5th-Grade Band by attending the Instrument Selection Night. Here, you can try out the instruments to select the one that best suits you. There will also be information on how to obtain your instrument. We recommend renting for at least the first few months to ensure it is the right instrument for you.

Transportation Information
In an effort to assist schools and parents with current information about bus changes, transportation has added a new item on their website called: Transportation - Morning Update. The direct link can be found here. Also, this is the direct link to transportation.
Parents of students Pre-K through Grade 3 are expected to meet their children at the bus stop. Failure to do so will result in the child(ren) being returned to school. Should you choose to allow your child(ren) to be dropped off without supervision in the afternoon, please fill out and return this document.
We will be posting departure times for buses each day to assist parents with receiving their child from the bus stop. Please check this document each afternoon.
If your student requires transportation assistance, call the Transportation Department at 540-825-5446 or email them at transportation@ccpsweb.org
School Resource Officer (SRO)
We are happy to have a School Resource Officer (SRO) this year at Yowell. You can contact Deputy Brandon Mack with any concerns you have with school safety or anything that would be related to criminal activity.
