"Running on Sunshine: A Bright Success at the 2023 Jog for Jefferson"
The 2023 Jog for Jefferson was a resounding success, thanks to the vibrant theme of "Running on Sunshine." Our students truly shone in their bright-colored shirts and stylish sunglasses, adding an extra layer of enthusiasm to the event.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the incredible PTO and the dedicated parents, grandparents, and family members who took time out of their busy schedules to be a part of this memorable jog. Your support is invaluable, and it made all the difference in creating a special day for our students.
A big round of applause goes out to our High School Band, Cheerleaders, and Cross Country team, whose spirited involvement added an extra layer of excitement to the event. Their contributions were instrumental in making this day memorable for our students.
As you can see from the captivating pictures below, the Jog for Jefferson was not just a run; it was a fantastic community event that brought everyone together. We are incredibly fortunate to have such a supportive and engaged community backing our school.
We are eagerly looking forward to celebrating our students and their many accomplishments at our upcoming assembly next Friday. Thank you once again for making the 2023 Jog for Jefferson a day filled with sunshine and smiles. Your participation and support mean the world to us, and we can't wait to continue this journey together.
Warm regards,
Mr. Schmidt
Book Fair
Our fall book fair is fast approaching. This is an event that gives students the opportunity to buy books with their families' permission and in return our library earns funds to buy new books. The Scholastic book fair is during conference week: Tuesday, September 26th-Friday, September 29th. Students will shop during their regular library time with their class. It will be during the school day for students only and open to families both conference nights.
I am in need of volunteers to make it run smoothly. Click here to see Book Fair Volunteer opportunities. Thank you!

Every two weeks students will have a new Social Emotional Learning (SEL) focus building wide. The past two weeks have focused on Including Others. The next two weeks Responsibility will be the topic. These are topics your child will hear videos and stories about as well as have classroom discussions about. We would love for you to ask them about the topics and include them in your family conversations!
Just as adults, kids experience worry and anxiety. It is important to validate their feelings while also helping them to cope with their worries. Here are some ideas of what you can to your child when they are feeling worried or anxious:
"Being nervous doesn't mean you aren't brave. You can be nervous and brave at the same time."
"Everyone worries. You aren't alone with your worries. I am here."
"Let's take a deep breath first, just to remind our body that we are safe right now."
"Sometimes we feel things and we don't understand why. The feeling is real even if we don't understand it."
GRIN provides food to be sent home on Fridays for families in need. If this is something you would be interested in, please fill out this form and send it back to me. You can also email me at haringah@gjps.org.
