Meet Mrs. Killion
Welcome!! My name is Maura Killion, and I am thrilled to be your child’s mental health provider for the 2026-2027 school year! Originally from the Chicagoland area, my husband and I moved our family to Colorado a few summers ago. We have a preschool-aged son, and a Goldendoodle pup! This will be my sixth year as the School Psychologist at Sage Canyon Elementary, and my eleventh year working as a School Psychologist overall. I earned my Bachelor of Science degrees in Psychology and Human Services from Loyola University Chicago. I continued at Loyola University to earn my Masters of Education (M.Ed) in Educational Psychology, and my Education Specialist degree (Ed.S) in School Psychology. I am a Nationally Certified School Psychologist (NCSP). I have worked with students with unique abilities in both public school and private clinical settings.
Overall, my goal is to create a supportive environment so that all students feel welcomed, safe, and connected at school. I am looking forward to working together this school year!

Who Are School Psychologists?
"School Psychologists are uniquely qualified members of school teams that support students' ability to learn and teachers' ability to teach. They apply expertise in mental health, learning, and behavior, to help children and youth succeed academically, socially, behaviorally, and emotionally. School psychologists partner with families, teachers, school administrators, and other professionals to create safe, healthy, and supportive learning environments that strengthen connections between home, school, and the community".

Social Emotional Skills Development Services
I provide direct instruction in social emotional learning through service minutes written in a student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP). These service minutes target social emotional goals commonly in the areas of social skills, emotion regulation, and/or executive functioning. Services may be provided in different formats to best support a student's area of need.
- Direct: Small group or individual services outside of general education setting
- Direct: Services inside general education setting (ie recess, playtime, etc.)
- Indirect: Consultation with teachers
