Koch's Corner
Dear Future Star Families,
As we enter this season of thanks, I want to take a moment to express my gratitude for our wonderful school community. November is one of my favorite months! The vibrant fall colors and crisp air signal the start of a wonderful season—a time to reflect on our families, friends, and all we are grateful for. We have so much to appreciate at Leeds Elementary—amazing students, supportive families, dedicated staff, and a wonderful community. Each of you plays a crucial role in helping us achieve our vision and goals.
Thanksgiving Break:
We will have a 2-hour early dismissal on Wednesday, November 27, and school will be closed on Thursday, November 28, and Friday, November 29. I hope this break provides you with the opportunity to relax and enjoy quality time with family and friends. Whether you’re sharing a meal, participating in holiday traditions, or simply spending time together, these moments are precious.
Gratitude Activities:
In the spirit of Thanksgiving, many classes will engage in activities focused on gratitude. I encourage you to talk with your child about what they are thankful for and to share those reflections with you and their peers.
As we gather around our tables this Thanksgiving, let’s also remember those who may be facing challenges. A small act of kindness can go a long way in spreading joy and hope.
Thank you for your continued support and involvement. Wishing you and your family a joyful and meaningful Thanksgiving!
Warm regards,
Mr. Koch, Principal

Hello Future Stars Families!
I hope everyone has had a great month! It is crazy to me that we are already in November! We have had a great start to the year, and I can’t wait to see what the rest of the year brings. During October, we celebrated Red Ribbon Week with dress up days and daily announcements with facts about making healthy choices.
During the month of November, we will be having our next round of Classroom Guidance Lessons. We will be learning about coping skills and practicing some of our favorites. I’m so excited to be able to see everyone in their classrooms again this month!
As always, thank you for sharing your kids with us! We have so much fun here at Leeds!
Mrs. Roskilly
Things to Know
No School Day and Thanksgiving Break
There will be no school on Tuesday, November 5 for staff professional development.
School will be dismissed two hours early on Wednesday, November 27 for Thanksgiving break. There will be no school on Thursday, November 28 and Friday, November 29. School will resume on Monday, December 2.
Dressing for Cooler Weather
With the cooler temperatures upon us, please ensure your child is dressed appropriately for the colder winter. Even during the winter season, the District allows recess and outdoor activities to continue as usual, so it is important that students have the right winter weather clothing. When the temperature feels like 15 degrees or lower, students are kept inside for recess and activities. Students should be prepared for the cooler weather with a warm coat, hat, scarf, and gloves. If your student does not have access to cold-weather apparel, please contact our school office.
Inclement Weather Reminder
The weather in Iowa can be unpredictable. If the weather requires us to delay the start of our school day, cancel school for the day, or dismiss school early, information will be sent to families through email, text, and voicemail. In addition, this information is posted to our social media sites and the District website.
Please remember that parents and guardians have the right to make the decision to keep their child home on any day they feel it is unsafe for their student to be in school because of weather conditions. If you believe the weather provides a sincere reason why you may have to keep your student at home, or take your student home when classes are scheduled to continue, you as a parent or guardian will simply need to contact our school office to let us know.
