Dear Parents and Carers,

Thank you to everyone who has sent their children into school with wellies and a coat this week. It has been a complete lottery weather wise and we try to go out rain or shine so being prepared for all weathers is essential.

As you are aware, it can be a bit tight getting in and out of school each day. Please can I request that wherever possible we keep to the left to enable people to get in and out as seamlessly as we can.

Clubs have commenced this week. I was impressed with the Futsal groups’ listening and following instructions - well done. Young Voices got off to a strong start with everyone in fine voice and demonstrating lots of enthusiasm! I was blown away when one of our Year 5 pupils asked to start a lunchtime Chess Club. She located a room to do it in and recruited a staff member to support her. She also booked out the Chrome books and told me what to write in the post to parents - I am very proud of you Willow.

Year 6 worked hard on their pitches and it was very difficult to decide on our Head Pupils. Well done to Tilly and Lenny who were successful in their bid to lead the school. They will be ably supported by Georgia and Emie in their roles as Deputy. We will be introducing more leadership roles in the coming weeks. These will include School Council for KS2, Worship Crew, OPAL Play Leaders and Ground Force. They will be rolled out across the school so we will be able to develop leadership skills across different year groups.

Thank you as always for your support - we couldn’t do it without you.

Have a great weekend,

Mel Walmsley

Headteacher

Head Pupils

Congratulations to our new Head Pupils who delivered fantastic speeches in our Celebration Assembly today:-

Lenny

'Hello, my name is Lenny and I am excited to be Head Boy this year!

I would like to say thank you to the teachers and my class for all the support they have shown me. I would also like to send my commiserations to those over children who applied for the role of head pupil, but I know their support. I promise to make the school a better place for everyone.'

Tilly

'If you don't already know me, my name is Tilly and I am overjoyed to take on the role of Head Girl this year!

I would like to thank Mrs Walmsley and Mrs Bembridge for giving me this amazing opportunity to help and support our school. This is my seventh year at Kirk Fenton and through those years I have benefitted from staff and students encouraging me to do my best and let my light shine. This year, I hope to use my new role to return the favour.

So, let's all let our light shine and make this year the best one yet!'
