BWMS Family Update

It was great to have a full week of learning at BWMS and reestablish our routines and procedures to support daily growth. I'm sure the parents appreciated getting back into the swing of things as well.

Did you know that this week was National School Counselor Week?

Special thanks to our School Counselors for their focus and attention on student, staff and community success! Not only do they focus on the academic, social-emotional and career planning of students, we know that our team of support staff does so much more. From student interventions, to parent communication, classroom visits to hallway check ins. We appreciate the work of our school counselors at BWMS!

• Scheduling information will be available for the 2026-27 school year as we shift to the month of February. Additional information can be found here.
• Grade update day for the 3rd quarter is Friday 2/6/26. As a reminder, this is a time to jump into PowerSchool and double check on your student's progress for the 3rd quarter.
• Attention 8th grade families - Save the Date for the Freshman Scheduling Night will be Monday 2/9/26. (A-G at 6:00pm, H-O at 6:30pm, P-Z at 7:00pm). Please find the details here. In addition, the High School Spirit Shop will also be open to purchase "Class of 2030" T-Shirts and/or Sweatshirts during the incoming Freshman orientation night at BWHS on February 9th. Shirts will be available to pre-order via a QR code which will be located in the Spirit Shop.
• There will be a Pops Choir Performance on Tuesday 2/10/26 at 6PM in the Auditorium.
• The next BWMS PTO Meeting is Tuesday 2/10/26 at 7PM.
• The Student Group and Candid Picture Day is Thursday 2/12/26. This is the day when we get our team and activity/club photos.
• The next BWMS Parent Teacher Conference Night is Thursday 2/12/26. The sign up for our last conference night is posted here with additional details below. This is a great time to talk with the team of teachers about course recommendations and scheduling for next school year. In addition, BWMS will have an informational meeting about College Credit Plus at 5PM in the Auditorium where Dr. Jordan from the high school will share about these learning options for students in Big Walnut.
• The next BWMS Dance will be on Friday 2/13/26 from 6PM-8PM. Cost is $5 at the door.
• There is no school on Monday 2/16/26 due to Presidents Day.
• Officer Whiteside will be leading a 7th grade digital citizenship lesson for our students out of their social studies class on Tuesday 2/17/26. The following information and opt-out form was emailed home this week.
• 7th grade students will have the required suicide awareness and prevention programming from House Bill 123 on 2/25-26 in social studies classrooms. Additional information to include the opt out form was emailed to families. Please check with school counselor Megan Burden or principal Josh Frame if you have any questions.

We look forward to speaking with you. Please find the corresponding BWMS teachers by team with the conference times available. You may choose to sign up to meet with the team of teachers or any of the related arts teachers depending on your needs, just make sure to include everyone you desire when you sign up. Please note, if you cannot find a time slot that meets your needs, we will have the second round of conferences available for sign up soon. Please contact the office for support.

*Please note we have designated 3:00 PM-3:45 PM conferences on Thursday 2/12/26 to be virtual and 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM conferences to be in person. We thank you for partnering with us to Inspire and Guide your student in 2025-26.

College Credit Plus Annual Notice

Ohio schools are required to provide notice to students and families in grades 6-11 of the opportunity to participate in the College Credit Plus program for the upcoming school year. All students interested in College Credit Plus for the 2025-2026 school year are required to give written notice of the Intent to Participate no later than April 1. Recent legislation requires us to use the Intent to Participate Form developed by the state.
