The Weekly Update #4
May 20th, 2026
A Message from Mr. Bentley
Although it feels like summer this week, the excitement of spring is truly upon us. Last night, our secondary campus Art Show and Spring Concert were spectacular. Tomorrow is the Elementary Spring Concert, our high school students are competing in state championships, and Graduation / Moving Up Ceremonies are quickly approaching.
As we balance all of the exciting things happening at SA, please continue to stay connected and reach out with any questions or concerns. Thank you for your partnership in education and have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend!
Communication & Outreach Updates
Our students have been involved in a whirlwind of activities as we near the end of the school year! Make sure to keep up with us on Facebook and Instagram, and check our website for our most recent news releases on school happenings.

A Note from Nurse Brown
As we head into warmer weather and spend more time outdoors, we wanted to share some helpful information about tick season. Ticks are common in our area, so it is important to check your child after outdoor activities and know what signs and symptoms to watch for.
Please take a few moments to review the resource on tick prevention, tick checks, safe removal, and when to seek medical care:
Secondary Updates
Graduation 2026
Graduation is on the horizon!
The ceremony is scheduled to take place outdoors on the athletic field, with a prompt start time of 6:00 PM on Friday, June 5th.
Each senior will receive 8 tickets for family and friends:
4 blue tickets: valid for outdoor seating on the field or indoor seating in the gym
4 gray tickets: valid for outdoor seating on the field or indoor seating in the café
For the outdoor ceremony, additional seating will be available in the grandstands for guests without tickets. However, if the ceremony must move indoors due to inclement weather, the ceremony will take place in the gym and will be livestreamed to the café. In this case, only ticketed guests will be admitted.
If your family does not need all 8 tickets, please return any extras to Mrs. Allen so they can be redistributed to families in need.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Mrs. Norton.
Graduation Accessible Seating & Parking
Accessible seating and parking will be available for guests who need accommodations to attend graduation.
To request these services, families must complete this Google Form in advance. This helps us plan and ensure appropriate arrangements are available.
Please submit the form by June 1st so we are able to make appropriate accommodations.
If you have questions, please contact Stephanie.Hartsoe@saas.k12.de.us
A Note from Ms. Johnston
As you know, earlier this school year, we completed the Leader in Me MRA Survey. As we wrap up the school year, we are now asking families to complete the end-of-year MRA survey as part of our continued work to create a culture of leadership in our middle school.
This anonymous survey gives families the opportunity to share feedback about what is going well at our school and areas where we can continue to grow and improve. Your input is incredibly valuable and helps us better support our students, staff, and school community.
We are asking all parents/guardians, full-time staff members, and students in grades 6, 7, and 8 to participate. Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and partner with us in making our school the best it can be.

Mental Health Awareness Month: Breaking the Barrier to Asking for Help
Asking for help can be difficult for many children and teens. This week, we are emphasizing that reaching out is a sign of strength, not weakness. Students are learning who they can go to for support, including school counselors, teachers, and trusted adults. Families can support this message by reminding students that they will always be listened to and supported when they speak up. These trusted resources offer practical ways to support your child’s well-being.
Prevent Child Abuse- BE SMART Program
Next week, our middle school students will participate in the BE SMART program through Prevent Child Abuse Delaware, which focuses on personal safety, boundaries, and identifying trusted adults. Please click here for more information from Prevent Child Abuse Delaware. This program was originally scheduled for February but has been rescheduled due to snow closings and delays. If you have any questions about this programming or would like to opt your student out, please contact the school Dean or our secondary campus counselors:
