News You Can Use, Straight From the Fox Den!
From Mrs. Olivero October 20, 2025
Dear Isaac Fox Families,
October is always full of activity and excitement here at school! From classroom learning to special events, it’s a month where engaging with our school community is more important than ever.
As temperatures begin to drop this week, please help ensure students are dressed appropriately for the changing weather. Light jackets, hats, and gloves may be needed so students can comfortably enjoy recess and the occasional PE class held outdoors. We will continue to take students outside as weather permits throughout the school year. This will ensure that our learners stay warm, healthy, and ready to have fun outside!
Below you will find all of the information that you need for our upcoming Halloween festivites:
🎃 Halloween Parade
When: Friday, October 31 at 8:20am (weather permitting)
Where: Students will exit the door nearest the flagpole and continue on the sidewalk in front of the school, eventually heading toward the back of the school and enter through the back door. Families are welcome to come watch and cheer them on! However, for this event, we ask that you leave your pups at home due to the number of people in attendance. Please do not park on the grass near the soccer field or in the drive in front of the school as it is an emergnecy lane that needs to remain clear.
👻 Halloween Parties
Snacks/Treats: Please do not send treats — our kids will have plenty of candy waiting for them after school!
Volunteers: Parties will be led by room parents and prearranged helpers only.
🧛 Costume Guidelines
- Costumes should be safe, age-appropriate, and school-appropriate.
- No violent/gory costumes, weapons (real or pretend), or fake blood are allowed.
- Masks will be allowed as long as the student can see well and they are not too gory.
- Students should be able to see clearly, move comfortably, and handle bathroom breaks without help.
Students should wear costumes to school that morning so that they are ready for the 8:20am parade.
Thank you for being part of the energy, fun, and connection that makes our school such a vibrant place to learn and grow.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Kelly Olivero
Principal, Isaac Fox Elementary

Ms. Buttitta leads learning at our last Teacher Institute Day!
While students enjoyed a day off of school, our teachers were hard at work growing their skills during our recent Teacher Institute Day! As a professional learning community, our staff explored new strategies to support student writing, reviewed and refined a common assessment rubric, and focused on common language and alignment from kindergarten through 5th grade.
Just like our students, teachers often engage in learning using many of the same strategies we use in the classroom—such as gallery walks and “hand up, stand up, pair up,” just to name a few! This keeps professional learning active, engaging, and collaborative.
This shared work ensures that no matter the classroom or grade level, our students receive consistent instruction, clear expectations, and the best opportunities to grow as confident writers and thinkers. We are proud of our dedicated staff and grateful for the partnership with our families as we continue learning and improving—together!
1st graders explain their thinking like pros in Ms. Bent's Class!
Students in Ms. Bent’s class are taking the stage—literally and figuratively—as they are given daily opportunities to come to the front of the room and explain their thinking after solving math problems. By making student thinking visible, Ms. Bent supports learning for all students.
During these share-outs, Ms. Bent controls the pen while students describe how and why they arrived at their solution. Teachers and students also use whiteboards and annotate on their iPads, allowing everyone to clearly see the strategies being used.
This practice aligns beautifully with the Standards for Mathematical Practice—specifically SMP #4: Model with mathematics, and naturally leads to rich discourse where students engage in SMP #3: Construct viable arguments and critique the reasoning of others.
Student voice, collaboration, and deep thinking are on full display—way to go, 1st grade!
A Memorable Ride to School - Now that's Service!
Carter and Megan Millen enjoyed a very special start to their day after winning a ride to school in a police car, thanks to the partnership between the LZPD and our amazing PTO! Sirens blared and lights flashed as they pulled up to the front entrance of Isaac Fox, where students arriving at school greeted them with applause and excitement.
The police officers went above and beyond by giving a tour of the inside of their squad car and taking photos as keepsakes from this unforgettable experience.
A huge thank you to the Millen family for their generous donation, and to all of our families who helped our PTO reach their goal during the One and Done Fundraiser. Because of your support, it was a tremendous success!

Car Lane Drop Off and Pick Up Practices
No Left Turn During Drop Off TIme
There have been an increase in the number of cars that have been avoiding the car drop off line and turning left to drop off directly in front of the main entrance. It is vital that our bus line remains open during this time. As you enter through the front entrance off Cuba Rd., please turn right and follow the drop off line. Our supervisors ensure that the line moves with efficiecy and also remains safe. Your cooperation is appreciated!
Safety Reminders
When dropping off or picking up your student in the car lane near MSS, it is important that you remain in your car at all times. Students need to be exiting the vehicle on the side nearest the sidewalk and schools. If students need help unbuckling, buckling, gathering and carrying items, then it is best to park in a spot in front of MSS or alternatively use the back lot near the soccer field and walk your child into school. Following this procedure helps maintain safety and efficiency as we get our students from home to school and back again each day. Thank you for your cooperation!
From the IF Front Office
Thank you for your cooperation!
Our new Raptor system is now installed and available in our vesituble for visitor check in and check out. You will need to bring your license or ID in with you each time you enter the school for use with the new system. Please have patience while all visitors learn how to use this new system! The office staff is available to help if needed. Thank you for doing your part to help keep our school and safe and inviting environment for all!
Pick up Time and Change in Transportation Method
We strongly discourage students from being dismissed between 2:30-2:50 pm due to the dismissal lines and buses at that time. If you need to pick your child up early, please arrange for a time prior to 2:30pm.
Understand that no changes in student transportation will be made without a written or verbal request from a parent or guardian.
Once we have established your designated travel, you must notify your child’s teacher and the office in writing or via phone call each time a change is made from that routine. If a change in transportation is necessary please adhere to the following guidelines: Notify the office of the dismissal change via note or phone call prior to 2pm.

October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month
We’re excited to join schools across the district in raising awareness about online safety for our students, staff, and community. This month, our students are invited to become Cybersecurity Superheroes! They’ll complete four missions: Think Before You Click, Update Your Gear, Protect Your Secret Power Codes, and Tell a Trusted Adult if something online feels unusual. Part of their missions also includes sharing what they are learning with their families so we can all stay safer in today’s digital world.
Parents, you can help your young heroes practice these super skills at home—one mission at a time! - and follow us on Facebook, Instagram, or X at LZdistrict95 as we highlight practical ways families can stay safe online.
