From the Principal...
Dear Families,
It is hard to believe we have already reached the end of the first quarter! The past few weeks have been filled with energy, learning, and growth as students settled into their routines and began building the foundation for a successful year. I am so proud of the effort our students have shown and the way our staff has worked together to create a positive, welcoming environment for all.
With the arrival of fall, our classrooms are buzzing with curiosity and excitement. Students are diving deeper into their studies, and we continue to emphasize the importance of strong attendance, positive behavior, and consistent effort. As the weather changes, please be sure your child comes to school dressed for cooler mornings and outdoor recess.
Thank you for your continued support at home—whether it’s checking backpacks, encouraging reading each night, or staying connected through our school events. Together, we are making a powerful impact on your child’s success.
We look forward to a great second quarter filled with learning, celebrations and opportunities to shine!
Warmly,
Mrs. Mennonno
End of the Day Transportation Changes - Important
Just a reminder... if your child will be going home a different way than normal (normally a bus rider but will be a car rider...) we MUST have a written note or a phone call to the office before 3:00 PM about the change. If a student says their parent told them but we did not receive a note or phone call they will go home their normal way. Thank you for helping us ensure all students safely are dismissed each day!

Eating Lunch with Your Child
Our students love it when a family member comes to have lunch with them at school. We ask, if possible, that younger siblings are not brought with you. Also, you may bring restaurant food in to eat but please no sodas. Please check in at the office. You will meet your child at the cafeteria doors then go to the new booths down near the office to eat lunch together! At the end of the lunch time you can walk your child back to the cafeteria. Please do not go to the classrooms. If you plan on volunteering in the rooms, you need to return to the main office to sign in differently.

From Our Counselor...Mrs. Alspaugh
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Happy almost October! This month is especially important as we observe Bullying Prevention Month. As your school counselor, I’m focused on helping students understand the value of kindness, respect, and standing up for one another.
Throughout October, we’ll be teaching students how to recognize bullying, how to respond safely, and how to support friends who may be struggling. Building empathy and positive relationships is key to a safe and welcoming school community, and we will also celebrate a friendship week this month!
Please talk with your child about bullying and encourage open communication. If you ever have concerns or need support, I’m here to help.
Let’s work together to make this a respectful and caring October for all our students!

From our PTO...
Come to the next PTO meeting. Mr. Tomamichael, MCCSC Superintendent, will be asking parents to share ideas about the future of our district! It's a great time to get your input in!
MCE Dine to Donate at Texas Roadhouse! October 1st-2nd!
Student Birthdays
We love celebrating birthdays at MCE! We will announce a student's birthday on morning announcements and then they get to select a birthday book provided by our wonderful PTO. Then each classroom does their own birthday recognition. If you would like to send in a snack/treat, please arrange it with your child's teacher beforehand and they will do a small snack time. We do not have birthday "parties" in the classrooms. Birthday recognitions are important but we keep them simple to ensure that every child receives the same recognition. Please see the parent/student handbook for more information.
Upcoming Events...
Root Beer 2L Donations
If you can send in a 2L of root bear for our 50's day we'd appreciate the donation. The school is getting cups, spoons, and ice cream so that every student can have a root beer float that day!

School Care Registration
Hello Mill Creek East Families! We are using School Care as our primary source for notifying parents when a child comes to the clinic. We will call a parent if the visit requires further attention otherwise look for email from School Care to explain why your child was seen in the clinic. You will need to be registered to received the messages.
Some of you have noticed emails and or texts from School Care. School Care is a platform we use to communicate when and why your student was seen in the clinic. In the past each student would bring home a pink slip regarding visit, School Care will be replacing pink slips. You may have noticed multiple pages to fill out with School Care, we know this is long, but please take the time to fill out each page. School Care will carry over with each student to the middle and high school. Thanks for taking the time to fill out all the forms.
New State Attendance Guidelines
Please review the new attendance policies for MCCSC. This is aligned with the new state attendance guidelines for schools. If you have any questions please reach out.
