THE PRINCIPAL CHRONICLES THE PRINCIPAL CHRONICLES

JOSH MILLER

The Principal Chronicles continue ...

Testing season is here, and there are zero people who are excited about that. This week, our building revolves around state testing. As I write this, it is the second day of testing, and you can already tell that the students and the teachers are tired. Anytime something shifts with our regular routine, it throws everyone off. The good news is that most of the discipline goes away since the students are so busy testing. Once they get outside, where most of our issues happen, they are all brain-dead from all of the thinking they have been doing. Outside of that, not much else is going on here. Kind of a boring time for the old Chronicles.

On the Home front, it was a pretty quiet Easter. My parents successfully survived Costa Rica and made it back safe and sound. My sister and brother-in-law made it back from Mongolia. I haven't seen them yet to figure out why on Earth they even went. I did get to see my one and only for about an hour which was nice. She came down with two of her friends to attend Easter at her mom's house. For the first time ever, one of my daughters "friends" is a boy. He seemed like a normal individual and was pretty nice. Allegedly there are no "feelings" between them but you never know. In addition to that, when I asked how things were going in college she proceeded to pull out her phone to show me. Side note - if you have a child who is a teenager and they pull out their phone, be afraid at what you might see. For those of you whose children don't have a phone, count your blessings.

My daughter showed me a video of a party she went to in college. What was the party like you ask? Well video #1 was of her friend jumping on a trampoline and then two boys jumped on the trampoline at the same time causing her friend to launch off the trampoline into a neighboring bush. (Appartently she was fine and thought that landing in a bush was funny). Video #2 was of a young man riding on an electric scooter indoors until he crashed it because he ran over a wooden drumstick that was left on the floor. (There are so many things wrong with this video. Who rides an electric scooter indoors? Who leaves one random drumstick on the floor when clearly there is no drum present? What kind of driver wrecks after running over a drumstick?) Video #3 was a video of my daughter dressed in a giraffe onesie pushing a young man in a kayak down a flight of stairs into a bunch of stacked mattresses. Honestly, I have no words other than "at least he is wearing a helmet". Really what can you say? What I wanted to say was "All of these boys are idiots and why are you hanging out with them?" Turns out she was at a frat party and these idiots were all frat boys. Question answered. My hard earned money for college is really paying off.

That is it for this weeks episode, stay tuned for next weeks episode when the Principal Chronciles continues.
