Principal's Corner Principal's Corner

Dear FamiLEE,

We are excited to celebrate a successful first week of the semester! It has been encouraging to see our students return with focus, energy, and a strong commitment to learning. Classrooms are already engaged in building the academic skills needed to improve ACT performance, and we are proud of the intentional effort our students and teachers are putting into instruction and growth.

Also, we want to take a moment to recognize our athletic teams for their hard work and dedication. It is inspiring to see our student athletes balancing academics while continuing to develop their athletic skills. Their discipline, teamwork, and commitment to excellence both in the classroom and on the field truly represent the pride of our school.

As we move forward, we are looking ahead to a positive and productive month. Thank you for your continued support as we work together to help every student succeed academically, athletically, and personally.

Together, we are off to a great start!

Report Cards went out today. Please email your child's teacher if you have questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

Kitrise Torain

LHS Principal

Announcements Announcements

  • New HCS Wireless Communication Device Policy: We want to inform you about an important update to our school policies in response to a new state law. On May 14, 2025, Governor Kay Ivey signed the FOCUS Act (Freeing Our Classrooms of Unnecessary Screens for Safety) into law. This law, which went into effect July 1, 2025, requires public schools across Alabama to limit student use of wireless communication devices during the instructional day to improve focus, safety, and engagement. In compliance with this law, Huntsville City Schools will implement a district-wide Wireless Communication Device (WCD) Policy beginning Fall 2025. Please click here to review the new HCS Wireless Communication Device policy.

Attendance Attendance

We want your child to be in school with us every day! Attendance is the most important factor in your child's academic success. We can't teach children who aren't at school. We have a goal of 95% this year. Please help us reach this goal by ensuring your child is here every day. If you child has to be out, please send excuses to LHS.attendance@hsv-k12.org.
