IDAHO TEEN READING CHALLENGE

There are six weeks left for this year’s Idaho Teen Reading Challenge. Here are a few things to help you finish the challenge strong:

  • All books count! For the first time this year, we are tracking every book that is read as part of the ITRC. Even if a teen doesn’t finish the whole Challenge, the book(s) they did finish will count toward the statewide total.

  • Get fun badges. Teens can earn a digital badge each time they finish a book from one of the categories. The badges were created by Idaho teens. Just ask our school librarian for more information.

  • Submit your challenge paper. Turn in your challenge log by the end of April, even if you didn’t complete all of it. If you need a new challenge log, you can get one in the school library.

It’s not too late to participate! Let’s read!

Kaycee Ward Earns Prestigious Academic All-American Award

The National Speech & Debate Association (NSDA) is proud to announce that student Kaycee Ward has earned the coveted Academic All-American award. This distinguished recognition celebrates students who demonstrate exceptional academic rigor, competitive success in speech and debate, and personal excellence.

The Academic All-American award is a rare honor. From more than 141,000 student members in the NSDA, fewer than one percent achieve this status each year, placing Kaycee Ward among the top one-percent of all student members across the country.

To qualify for this award, students must meet rigorous criteria, including:

  • Completing at least five semesters of high school.

  • Earning the degree of Superior Distinction in the NSDA Honor Society (a minimum of 750 merit points).

  • Achieving demanding GPA and/or test score requirements.

  • Demonstrating outstanding character and leadership within the program.

This accomplishment reflects not only Kaycee Ward’s dedication but also the ongoing support for speech and debate provided by the school. Speech and debate activities offer students vital life skills, including advanced communication, improved reading, writing, and critical thinking, and preparation for college and career success.

We commend Kaycee Ward for receiving the prestigious Academic All-American award. Congratulations on this tremendous achievement!
