π» Student Acceptable Use Policy and What It Means to You
Do you have students missing a Classlink Quickcard or unable to log into their Chromebook? Wondering why a student is missing from your Seesaw class roster? The cause of this might have to do with the student's AUP being a "no." If a parent has designated a "no" on AUP, the student's NISD account has not been provisioned. This affects the student's access to ALL NISD accounts and Learning Management Systems (Seesaw for PK-1 and Schoology for 2-5).
While we respect a parent's decision to say no, it might help to explain to them what AUP covers. Should a parent decide to change their no to a yes, the campus attendance secretary will need to be notified in writing before any changes can be made.
To access a list of student emails and their AUP Status follow these directions as posted in Employee Connection. You will need to be in TAC to begin the process.
π± iCan, iKnow: iPad Expectations
Before one can run, one must learn how to walk. The same applies to using a device in the classroom. Before we can expect the littles to access the Classlink Portal or even Seesaw, we must make sure they have a basic understanding of how to handle the device correctly (procedures) and how to properly use the device (expectations).
I have been fortunate enough to lead several sessions based around An Apple a Day: The iPad Classroom. We talked about procedures and expectations and together created a list of basic iPad foundational skills that all iPad users should know.
Want to see the list? Look no further! I created two different versions: iCan, iKnow (basic skills list) and the second I themed up as an iPad Boot Camp. I even used the "translate feature" in Canva to create a Spanish version. Feel free to use either version as is or edit as you see fit. Want a PK version? I've got you covered!
As the school year progresses, don't forget to take the time to make sure any new additions to your classroom also know and understand these basic iPad skills.
If you would like to partner together to introduce your littles to their iPads, I would love to support you.
