25-26 CJM Volunteers
A Step By Step Guide
Thank you for your interest in being a CJ Morris Volunteer! Our community is very strong because of our parent support and we are happy to have you with us.
Please note that this process needs to be completed every year. Please make sure to read through and follow the steps. Please let us know if you have any questions.
Thank you again for all your support!
LEVEL 1 VOLUNTEER: On-site volunteers (Always with a Teacher and on Campus)
A Level 1 Volunteer is required to complete all of the following:
- Submit a completed application each school year
- Provide a copy of a California Driver’s License or California I.D.
- Complete online annual Mandated Reporter Training through ASCIP
- Clear Tuberculosis test (good for 4 years) - Fees paid by the applicant
- Undergo a background check using Verkada before each school visit
Level 2 - Off-Site Volunteer (Going Off Campus with Students Including Any Field Trips)
A Level 2 Volunteer is required to complete all of the requirements of Level 1 plus:
- Process fingerprints for clearance by the State of California Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) for clearance. Fees ($66.24) are paid by the applicant if they have their fingerprints done at the Walnut Valley District office. If they are done at another site, the rates will differ depending on the site. Fingerprinting only needs to be completed once and is good for the duration of the volunteer service, even if over several years.
You can fill out the online application HERE. We will no longer have the paper copy.
Step #3- Complete the Mandated Reporter Training
About a week after you fill out the online application, you will receive an email to complete Mandated Reporter Training through a program call ASCIP. They will send you an email stating that the training is assigned to you, and you will have 2 weeks to complete it. The training is about 30-45 minutes.
Step #4 - Fingerprints
Your Live Scan fingerprint background check through the State of California Department of Justice. You can either have them done at the district office or a location of your choice.
If you choose to have your fingerprints done at the District...
please email Sheena Chang at sheenachang@wvusd.org. You will need to bring:
- Completed Live Scan form (provided by the district)
- Valid ID (driver's license, state ID, or passport)
- Payment for Live Scan of $66.24 (collected through Parent Square at your appointment).
If you choose a different Live Scan location...
print a copy of the Livescan Form for WVUSD and take it to the place you are having your fingerprints done for them to fill out. Then, submit a copy of your completed application to Sheena Chang at the District Office.
Clearance typically takes one week, but can be longer. The school will be notified when it's complete. Also note that if a crime is committed after you have your fingerprints done, the district will be notified by the Department of Justice.
Special Fingerprinting Opportunity
In order to help with fingerprints, the district has set up a time for only CJ Morris parents to come in and have their fingerprints done.
