LAMBERT
September 2024 Edition
Dear Longhorn Families,
Between Labor Day and Fall Break, September is a relatively short month in terms of school days, but we still have a lot going on at LHS. Be sure to read through the entire September edition to stay in the know about all the great things happening at Lambert.
A tremendous THANK YOU to our PTSO, who has sponsored multiple events already to kick off the 2025-26 school year, including providing donuts at Senior Sunrise and organizing our first Freshmen Tailgate. If you haven't joined PTSO, please consider doing so! Your involvement helps create these great opportunities for our students. See membership information below.
When we return from Fall Break, we jump right into Homecoming Week. Longhorns: Be sure to have your Spirit Week attire, football game and LALO Fest tickets, and parade floats ready! Find all the info you need for a fun and festive HOCO Week below.

ATTENDANCE MATTERS
While we understand absences are occasionally necessary for students, we implore our Lambert families to make class attendance a priority. There are numerous reasons for this:
- School attendance is vital to academic success. The research behind academic achievement and school attendance is undisputable. Our state and district leaders put laws and policies in place to support this correlation.
- Our attendance rates impact our CCRPI scores. This means that we are evaluated, as a public school in Georgia, based on our attendance rates. Lambert is a premiere school, and we want to maintain that standing.
- Our district publishes school calendars well in advance for families to make travel plans, and we have many long breaks throughout the year, in addition to a long summer, for extended trips.
- Student attendance is a spotlighted data point at the top of student transcripts for colleges to consider in the application review process. Colleges want students with healthy attendance practices.
Before asking the LHS Attendance Office to excuse an absence, please consult the list of approved reasons, determined by state law and FCS Board Policy, HERE.

AP EXAM REGISTRATION IS OPEN
Registration for Spring 2026 AP exams is live! Lambert’s AP Exam administration is one of the largest in the country, and we need your help to continue the success of this program. Please register by completing all the steps in both Total Registration and College Board’s My AP platform. Parents and students should carefully read the instructions on our website and complete this process together to ensure that payment is properly applied and all information is accurate. This is a multi-step process that can take several minutes to complete, especially if your student is participating in online classes through FVA or GAVS, as there are additional steps. The registration window ends on October 24, and all registrations after that point will incur a late fee of $40 per exam. Late registration closes on February 27, with no exceptions. A MESSAGE FROM 3RD ASCENT
Parents & Students,
We are always working hard to communicate clearly and effectively with our students and their families. To that effort, we are asking each and every family for all grades to please register with 3RD ASCENT | HERFF JONES, our Partner in Education for all things related to student recognition and achievement. They are already scheduled to be on campus throughout the school year and need to be able to communicate with you about the various opportunities your student will have to interact with them specific to Letter Jackets, Class Rings, and Graduation related items. Once registered, in addition to school reminders, you will also receive a simple text and/or email reminder from 3RD ASCENT & HERFF JONES with the information you need to be prepared for their visit. These reminders will sometimes communicate very important deadlines and order information specific to our school, so please be sure to register today or by the end of this week.
To visit their registration page, please scan the QR Code on the attached flyer, or simply go to this link.
Thank you for helping us help you by being as informed as possible.

SENIOR DUES
MEDICATIONS AT SCHOOL
We kindly ask that parents and guardians notify the school clinic if your student has a chronic health condition that may require care or support during the school day. This includes conditions such as asthma, severe allergies, frequent headaches or migraines, gastrointestinal or genitourinary concerns, and more.
Please remember that, per the Forsyth County Schools Code of Conduct, students are not permitted to carry any medications — including prescription and over-the-counter medications — while at school. The only exceptions are life-saving emergency medications (such as inhalers, EpiPens, or diabetic supplies), and these must have the appropriate documentation on file in the clinic.
All health and medication forms can be found on the school nurse webpage, under FCS Health Care Plans and Medication Forms. Medications must be brought to school by a parent or guardian — students may not transport medications themselves. If you have any questions, need help with forms, or want to discuss your student’s health needs, please don’t hesitate to contact Nurse Surio and Nurse G at LHSNurse@forsyth.k12.ga.us. Thank you for partnering with us to keep our students safe, healthy, and ready to succeed!

TEACHER SPOTLIGHT
STAFF SPOTLIGHT
Kelle Russo: We are thrilled to welcome Mrs. Kelle Russo to our clerical team! In just a short time, she has already made a huge impact with her organization, event planning, and ability to “level up” everything she touches. Truly, what did we do before Kelle? We’re not sure we want to remember! Lambert is lucky to have her talent, energy, and dedication making a difference every day.
TEAM SPOTLIGHT
PE Department: Teamwork is at the heart of the P.E. Department, and they show every day how pulling together makes everyone stronger. This group models collaboration at its best, always ready to support one another and step up whenever help is needed. Whether in the gym, on the field, or behind the scenes, their commitment to teamwork builds not only a stronger department but a stronger school community.
