Welcome to the BHS Express
A newsletter keeping you informed about Batavia High School
Hello Bulldog Families.
It’s hard to believe that with our return on Tuesday, we started the second quarter of the 2025-2026 school year! Time does fly as we remain busy supporting our BHS students as we help them become the best version of themselves.
Take a look at our Upcoming Important Dates section below. We will be taking the Prevention First Survey on October 21st. Please reach out to Mr. Buis if you do not want your student to participate in this survey. Also, our second Parent Teacher Conference session will be held on Thursday, October 23rd. Be sure to sign up via the link below so we all can work together to help your student be successful in school.
ATTENDANCE MATTERS! Students who attend school every day feel more involved, are less overwhelmed, and are three times more likely to finish high school and pursue some level of post secondary education and/or training! Encourage your high school student to come to school, even when tired, so that they learn how to persevere through the feelings of just wanting to rest all day. Half of success in life is just showing up on time every day! Help your teen develop this mindset now.
I hope you have a chance to hang onto the nice weather before the rain comes in on Sunday! We look forward to welcoming back your student on Monday!
In service to our Bulldogs.

Hello Families,
Hopefully, everyone had a nice fall break to end the first quarter. Now that we’ve begun the second quarter, please remind students to continue to arrive at school on time and safe. We are continuing to improve in these areas since the beginning of the school year.
I had the pleasure of attending last week's homecoming dance on Saturday. It was great to see our students in a homecoming atmosphere with all of their dates and/or friends.
Thank you, and have a nice weekend.
Joe Moorehead, Dean of Students

The FAFSA Application opened October 1!!!!
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for students entering or attending college for the 2026-27 academic year is up and running! Any student that is thinking about attending any type of education/training after high school should complete the FAFSA - technical school, trade school, community college, public university, or private university. The FAFSA is what determines your eligibility for student loans, grants, work-study, and scholarships - thus, it is VERY important that you complete and submit it. Keep in mind, all students are eligible for student loans! We will continue to share information and helpful resources with you and your family as we receive it!
The Ohio Department of Higher Education would like to share that the 2026-27 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is available for all families to complete. Families who want to start filling out the FAFSA now can start the process at studentaid.gov.
For additional assistance with FAFSA completion, please visit itsforyou.org, and look under the “Looking for FAFSA Help?” section for more information
