Message from Ms. Lahey
Greetings Hembree Families!
This has been an exciting week at Hembree! We officially opened our new Kindergarten class, and it is already making a tremendous impact on our class sizes and learning environment. We are thrilled to welcome Ms. Kish and Ms. Williams to the Hembree Nest, and we know they will be wonderful additions to our school family.
Next week, Hembree will host the first Zone 5 Principals’ Meeting, and I couldn’t be more excited! This is a fantastic opportunity to showcase the incredible work happening at our school every day. We will welcome approximately 18 principals, along with district leaders from across Fulton County, and I cannot wait to show off our amazing students, staff, and school community.
I can hardly believe we are already in September! The school year is flying by, and there is so much to celebrate. September will be a short month with Labor Day weekend upon us and Fall Break beginning September 21st, so I encourage everyone to make the most of this special time together.
As a reminder, if your child will be absent, you may request a remote learning day in advance. Please contact Lisa Dossey at dosseyl@fultonschools.org to receive the Remote Learning Request Form. I’m also happy to share that our August attendance numbers are trending in the right direction. Thank you for your partnership and commitment to ensuring our students are at school and ready to learn each day!
On a personal note, I am especially excited about tomorrow because it marks Georgia’s first football game of the season! As a diehard Bulldogs fan, my Saturdays during football season are usually spent cheering on the Dawgs from in front of the TV. However, I have a very special conflict tomorrow. My son Cam’s childhood best friend is getting married, and the wedding happens to be during the game. Of course, family and friends come first, and I wouldn’t miss it for the world, especially since Cam is the best man! Rest assured, I’ll be recording the game and breaking down every play after the celebration.
I hope each of you enjoys a wonderful three-day weekend filled with relaxation, fun, and memorable moments with your children. Thank you for being such an important part of the Hembree family.
Have a fantastic Labor Day weekend, and as always... Go Dawgs!
Warm Regards,
Nancy Lahey
Thank you to Our Fabulous Dads!
Thank you Dads for running carpool this morning. Our students were all smiles being greeted by you. We appreciate your dedication.

September is Attendance Awareness Month!
September is Attendance Awareness Month!
Every school day gives students another opportunity to learn, grow, connect, and succeed. Missing just 2 days each month can add up to nearly 20 missed school days—or about 10% of the school year. Help us soar toward our 95% attendance goal by ensuring your child is at school, on time, and ready to learn each day—unless they are ill and need time to recover. Every day counts!

NEW AFTER-SCHOOL LEGO CLUB
Calling all LEGO® lovers: Bricks4Kids is offering a brand-new after-school club right at Hembree Springs this fall.
🏆 LEGO Master Builders Academy: Brick Belt Challenge
Every Master Builder starts with a single brick! In this Bricks 4 Kidz® program, students will work their way through a series of Brick Belt Levels, with a new LEGO challenge each week. Inspired by the achievement system of martial arts, students earn a new Brick Belt as they complete challenges and work their way toward becoming a LEGO Master Builder.
Along the way, students will build increasingly advanced LEGO models while exploring STEM concepts including gears, simple machines, forces, motion and basic physics. They'll also strengthen creativity, teamwork, communication, fine motor skills and early math—all through hands-on LEGO fun!
⭐ Wednesdays | 2:30–3:30 p.m.
📅 September 2–December 9
Ages: 5–10
Cost: $179 for the semester
This program focuses on confidence, perseverance and personal growth—not competition—so students can learn and build at their own pace.

Beanstack Reading App
Have you heard your child mention anything about an app called Beanstack? It was introduced in the Media Center. Beanstack is a digital reading log that students can use to log the number of minutes they are reading. They can earn badges and rewards along the way. If your child is reading at school, home, daycare, etc. they can log their minutes and help us get closer to our goal. The following is a video explaining how to use Beanstack from home. You can always find your child's lunch number/student number in infinite campus or email Mrs. Soberanis: soberanis@fultonschools.org. Happy Reading!
