WELCOME BACK!!
A Note from Principal Carlotta Simonds-Perantoni
We hope your summer was outstanding! It's so wonderful to have the building filled with scholars and staff again. Thank you to Pat, Dean and Leonard for the amazing work you did this summer and all that you do daily at WRVS!
The classrooms have been filled with smiling faces; scholars and staff have been hard at work building community. As I travel through the classrooms daily you can see the magic, joy, confidence and pride in each scholar, each staff.
Early morning drop-off and the After School Program (ASP) will start next Monday, August 31st. Scholars can be dropped off at 7:30 AM, and they will wait in the library with a staff member until 7:50 AM when they can head up for breakfast. As a reminder, the After School Program runs from 3:00 - 5:00 PM.
It is so wonderful to see the KINDNESS flowing through our building, our community. There are so many moments that we observe daily. Watch the newsletter and our Facebook page for those weekly celebrations.
A reminder that there is an EARLY RELEASE next Friday, September 4th, so that staff can take part in Professional Development. There is NO SCHOOL on Monday, September 7th due to the holiday. We look forward to seeing everyone on Tuesday, September 8th!
Have a great weekend!
News from the Health Office with Nurse Carla
Welcome back to school, WRVS Families! I hope you all have had a great summer making memories together with family and friends. I spent some of my summer days helping out at the WRVS Summer Program and had such a good time sharing my days with some of my favorite kids, in a different setting. We really had so much fun, and I laughed so hard! Your kids make my days brighter. I wanted to check in with a quick note to let you know that I’m here and I’m happy to help however I can.
Here are a few things I’d like you to keep in mind and help out with:
● Water Bottles: Please help students to remember their reusable water bottles. Many of the complaints that I see, can be helped with a good drink of water. A water bottle can help keep kids in class!
● Extra clothes: Please help students of all ages remember a second set of seasonally appropriate clothes. We work and play hard at WRVS, and you’d be amazed how often a quick change can help! The office can sometimes take gently used hand me down clothing items if you are ever looking to donate to our cause, please reach out first.
● Forms: Health update forms are coming home with students today. Thank you for your help in filling these out and returning them. These forms really help me to collect required report data and most importantly meet and care for your student in the best way possible. I know there is a lot of paperwork these first few days, so I’ve given you the weekend to get them done! :)
● Medication: Please contact me if you have not and your child needs to take medication at school. Please do not send medication to school with your child. If getting them here is a problem, please call me to discuss a plan.
● Sick Day Guidance:
- Student should be 24 hours without a fever and not taking fever reducing medicine.
- Student should be 24 hours without vomiting or diarrhea.
- Student’s symptoms should be improving and the student should be well enough to fully participate in their day.
Don’t hesitate to reach out to me at school during the school day at 802-439-5534 or via
email at carla.horniak@oesu.org.
