Fri 15th May

Good afternoon,

Another very busy and very successful week in the life of Spa Primary.

Our P7 pupils are all delighted with their schools and we can't quite believe our time with them is coming to an end. In the same week we started our pre-school sessions with our new P1's.

Remember next Friday, 22nd, is an additional closure this year for TransformEd training. You may have heard bits and pieces about the new curriculum being rolled out by the Department of Education over the next few years. We will keep you, as parents, well-informed along the journey.

Mon 25th is a Bank Holiday and Tues 26th is a Staff Development Day. School will be closed for pupils Fri, Mon and Tues. Pupils will return on Wed 27th May.

Friends of Spa met on Monday night to plan our annual School Fair. If you would be happy to help at any stalls on the night please drop Joy a wee message and we will add you to the list. More details will follow next week.

Have a lovely weekend,

Mrs F

We are so delighted with our 5 VoxBlock players and 10 audio books. We hope to add to the collection soon. A brilliant resource for the school, especially as we focus on Reading.

This year we are changing things up a little. At the start of the year our School Council suggested they would like a Colour Run and we listened. So, after Sports' Day on 5th June we are having our very first Sponsored Spa Colour Run. Sports' Day will run from 9 - 12 and then our Colour Run will take place immediately afterwards. Children will need to have registered for the Colour Run on SchoolMoney which will go live next week. There is a cover charge of £5 which will cover the costs and include an additional small bag of paint powder for each child and a pair of sunglasses, as children will need to have their eyes covered. This will be a sponsored event and children will be asked to collect sponsors to go towards updating and adding to our ICT equipment. We will not do our Sponsored Walk round Montalto this year. There will still be our Fair on Tues 16th June, just no sponsored walk beforehand.

Children may still wear their House colour to Sports' Day and then pull on a white T-shirt for the colour run or alternatively wear a white T-shirt which you can have decorated with your school house colours. The choice is yours. More details will follow.

This has been a very busy sporting week with 7 teams getting an outing.

On Tuesday we sent 2 football teams to Dromara for their annual tournament. Both teams made it out of the group stages but were beaten on penalties. Mrs Kearney was extremely proud of their skills, sportsmanship and behaviour.

On Wednesday it was the turn of our P7 netball teams. We entered 2 teams and again they played their hearts out. Both teams showed great perseverance and sportsmanship and should be very proud of their first performance. Mrs Foster and Mrs Horner were singing their praises.

Today we had 2 teams at the Festival of Football at Assumption and our P6/7 football team were at Kilmore playing in that tournament. They were amazing!

We are indebted to our enthusiastic members of staff for organising these things and allowing our pupils as many opportunities as possible. We also couldn't do it without you as parents, taking time to give lifts and support us.
