A Note from Mrs. Alcorn
Dear PPS Families,
As this school year comes to a close, I want to thank you for the love, support, and trust you've shown me throughout the three years I've been a part of the NWHSC community. It has been a true privilege to serve as your principal and to be part of such a caring school community. As I retire, I will carry with me many wonderful memories of our students and families. Thank you for allowing me to be part of your children’s journey. To our second graders and their families, we wish you all the best as you transition to PES - keep learning, being curious, showing kindness and doing amazing things!
Wishing you and your family a joyful summer and all the best in the years ahead. With heartfelt gratitude, Mrs. Alcorn
Second Grade's Last Lap Through the PPS Halls
As a school, we had a wonderful send-off to our second graders as they move on to PES next year! Our younger students gave them a cheer-filled farewell as they took one last lap through the hallways.
TWHS Senior Walk through PPS
As our graduating seniors took one final walk through the elementary hallways where their journey began, we were reminded of just how far they’ve come. Once little learners with backpacks nearly as big as they were, they now walked these halls as confident young adults ready for new adventures. We wish them all the best in their next chapters!
May Students of the Month
Congratulations to our May Students of the Month! These students were selected by classroom teachers for demonstrating leadership: using unique strengths, qualities and talents to show others the way to love and kindness. Way to go!
Preschool: Finley V., Haven T.
Kindergarten: Knox B., Vincent M., Lucy S., Thomas E., Kiyah L.
First Grade: Dakota M., June M., Colton C., Hadley w., Stinson H.
Second grade: Mason C., David E., Natalee M., Avery M., Sam L.
Preschool Graduation - Movin' On Up!
Congratulations to our youngest Burros, our preschoolers! We had a graduation ceremony on Monday as they get ready to move on up to kindergarten!
Kindergarten/TWHS Art Collaboration
Two of our kindergarten classrooms had the opportunity to collaborate with the TWHS Ceramics class this year. Last fall, our kindergarteners drew a monster, and the high schoolers brought it to life in the forms of a ceramic sculpture. The high school students came to our building to deliver the finished products!
NWHSC Art Show Winners
We are so proud of these students whose artwork was selected to be displayed at the district-wide NWHSC Art Show and who won an award!! Congratulations!
Field Day Fun!
A huge thank you to Mrs. Thompson for all her efforts to make Field Day so much fun for our students! Even without great weather, we had an awesome day of sportsmanship and fun!
New This Year: Summer Library Hours!
We love reading here at PPS! As a result, our school library will be open on select days for current students to check books out over the summer. Keep on reading, Burros!
All Library Books Must be Returned
Library books are due in May. Students need to locate and return all library books by May 8th. No books will be checked out during May. Lost items and fines will be assessed during this time, so if you have questions or concerns, please email Mrs. Archer (archerka@hendricks.k12.in.us).
Camp Learn-A-Lot
The PTA is once again sponsoring Camp Learn-A-Lot this summer to encourage continued reading when school is out. Students can read 20 minutes per day on 40 days this summer and earn a ticket to a donut party when school starts back in August!
Bruin Ambassadors
North West Hendricks School Corporation is looking for parents and community members. We need people who want to learn more about how the schools in the district work. We are looking for people that want to learn what can be done to support and improve our schools and are willing to get involved to better North West Hendricks School Corporation. An Ambassador will attend six monthly sessions to learn more about what actually happens in our schools, an education on school, and a behind the scenes view of what it takes to provide education to our students. Following completion of the school education, Ambassadors will work with the schools to provide support for the schools. This could be in the form of community outreach, volunteering, program support, and many other possibilities. If interested, please fill out the form below: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSc_LKXetKez4_ZGrGSSDj0XD0xihOsIfX2iBV78IdjryUFLng/viewform
Kindergarten Enrollment
We're so excited to start welcoming our incoming kindergarteners for next year! If you have a child who will be age 5 by 8/1/2026, he/she is eligible to enroll for kindergarten. Registration is open for the 2026-'27 school year. In order to enroll your child, we will need:
- a birth certificate
- record of immunizations
- proof of residency (mortgage statement, lease agreement, or utility bill with your address on it)
- completed demographic packet
If you're going to enroll your child, please also sign up for an assessment time slot for your child here that will take place from Apr 27- May 1. We love the chance to meet our incoming kindergarteners and it gives us an opportunity to get to know your child before starting school.

School Meals Information
Please see our Food Services page with instructions on how to add money to your child's lunch account, as well as to apply for Free/Reduced Lunch status. The price of breakfast this year is $1.80 and lunch is $3.00 (reduced price is $0.30 for breakfast and $0.40 for lunch). You can also send in cash, or check made out to PPS, with your child to be applied to his/her lunch account.
Student Services Fee
Although we no longer charge textbook rental fees, all parents are responsible for paying $30 Student Services Fees for each student, regardless of free/reduced lunch status. This helps us cover costs for student t-shirts, classroom supplies and other consumable items. You can pay with cash or check (made out to PPS), or you can pay online at www.linqconnect.com. Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter!
Parent Volunteers
We're excited to welcome volunteers into our building! There are so many ways to volunteer with us - morning arrival, reading with children, helping in the Library - in addition to helping in your child's classroom. We also love grandparents and other grown-ups besides parents! If you're interested in volunteering, please make sure you have a current Level 2 background check on file. You can complete the background check here and please contact the office if you're interested in volunteering.

Attendance Policy
As a reminder, our attendance policy is that parents/guardians must call the school's attendance line (317-994-2100, option 1) if your child is not at school for any reason. When you call in, please leave your child's name, their teacher's name, and reason for the absence. If no phone call is received within 24 hours of the absence, it will be recorded as an unexcused absence. It is our policy to send a child home who has a temperature of 100 degrees or higher. The child should remain at home until he/she has been fever-free for 24 hours without fever reducing medication.
Pick-up Reminders
Please be aware that parents must notify the office each time anyone else will be picking up their student(s). Listing emergency contacts in Harmony does not automatically give those individuals permission to pick up your student. (Those numbers are necessary for us to be able to reach someone close to you in the event of an emergency.) If someone (other than a parent or guardian) is picking up your child, please send in a note to school, call us at 317-994-2100, or email Leslie Thompson at thompsonle@hendricks.k12.in.us. Thanks for your cooperation and support.
A Note from the Nurse, Mrs. Niemann
All medication must be brought in with an adults. Medication may not be sent in your child's backpack. We have forms in the nurse's clinic that must be filled out prior to us administering medication.
