Learning About Habitats

Second graders have been continuing to learn, read, and write about habitats! This week we finished up water habitats by drawing a visual representation of an ocean, pond, lake, river, swamp, or tide pool. We then used our visuals to write a paragraph about it with an engaging topic sentence, details and a conclusion sentence. We love becoming habitat experts!

Comparison War

4th graders in Ms. Hawthorne’s math class practiced their comparison skills by playing “Comparison War.” They were given cards in multiple forms and had to determine together which amount was greater. Once students were observed to be on the track to mastery, they were challenged by having to round their numbers to different place values and then compare. Students worked hard to build their math thinking, explain themselves verbally, and look at problems in new ways.

Author Visit from Liniers to CAMS

On December 4th, our CAMS library hosted comic artist and author Liniers for a visit. 150 fifth through eighth grade students, including our foundational multilingual learners, attended Liniers’ presentation about creativity, comics, and storytelling. Students loved reading his books beforehand and asking questions about his inspirations, his creature characters, and his career’s unexpected connections.

Thank you to Wondermore and the Chelsea Heritage Foundation for their support providing a book for Liniers to sign for each student.

Celebrating Gratitude in the Wolfpack

In honor of World Kindness Day on November 13, the Northeast Metro Tech Humanities Department launched a meaningful school-wide initiative: Postcards of Gratitude. This reflective writing activity encourages students to recognize an education worker who has made a positive impact on their journey—reminding us how even the smallest gestures can create lasting change.

We’re proud to share that five members of our Wolfpack were acknowledged by former WSTA students for the difference they’ve made: Mr. Haener, Ms. Asadoorian, Mr. Kennedy, Mr. Ruggiero, and Mr. Flynn.

Thank you for your dedication, your heart, and the impact you continue to make on our students’ lives. Your work matters—and it shows
