College & Career Chronicles

The College & Career Center is open to welcome students during Support Seminars, lunch, and after school! You are able to just pop in during lunch and after school, however, you will need to sign up for Support Seminar through Flexi Sched. The College & Career Center is next to Joe’s Boathouse. You are also welcome to schedule an appointment with Ms. Stevie at your convenience.

College visits are happening!

College Admissions Reps visit Lake Oswego High to speak with students virtually or in person. Check out the schedule on the College Visits Page through Naviance, read this fabulous newsletter or the LOHS Daily Log, or drop by the College and Career Center to find out more!

Throughout the year, LOHS will be hosting College and Career related events. Here is what's on the docket for September/October:

Throughout the year, we will have opportunities to attend College and Career related field trips. Coming up in October we have a couple great events to attend! Stop by the Counseling Department to sign up for either(or both!):

National Manufacturing Day

When: October 7, 2022

Where: Clackamas Community College

Who: Any student interested in learning about CTE programs

What: Clackamas Community College (Oregon City Campus) will be hosting an event for high school students to learn more about some of their career technical programs. These programs enable students to step out of the traditional classroom and into a hands-on workspace and earn a certificate or a degree that gets them job-ready in two years or less.

Programs featured include:

• Machine Tool Technology / Computer-Aided Manufacturing
• Electronics Engineering Technology
• Renewable Energy Technology
• Industrial Maintenance Technology
• Water and Environmental Technology
• Welding
• Automotive Service Technology

PCC Preview Day

When: October 21, 2022

Where: Portland Community College - Sylvania Campus

Who: Seniors interested in attending PCC

What: PCC will be hosting Preview Day events for high school students to participate in a brief introduction to their programs and services. During Preview Day, you will:

• Get valuable information on how to prepare to attend PCC
• Hear about programs, degrees, and certificates
• Spend time interacting with PCC faculty and staff
• Learn about financial aid and other scholarship opportunities

If you are unable to attend the in-person Financial Aid Night, you're in luck! Jenn Satalino will also be offering a Virtual Financial Aid Night on September 27th in English and September 29th in Spanish.

Throughout the year, there will be events in the Portland Metro area related to College and Career that you may be interested in attending. Here are some opportunities that might be of interest.
