Open House Highlights 🎉 Open House Highlights 🎉

Throughout October, all our school buildings hosted exciting and engaging Open House events that brought students, families, friends and staff members together to celebrate school community and connection.

At Mullen and Roosevelt, attendees explored the Scholastic Book Fair, filled with great reads and fun trinkets. Roosevelt also featured a lively scavenger hunt, giving students the chance to guide their guests around the building and introduce them to teachers and counselors.

Over at Rossler, creativity was on full display during a pumpkin decorating contest, while Cambridge staff members went head-to-head in a delicious Dip Off competition with more than 14 dips available for tasting. The evening also included a winter clothing drive and gift card raffle, spreading warmth in more ways than one.

Across nearly every building, attendees enjoyed the fall tradition of apple cider and donuts, making for a festive and memorable October Open House season. Thank you to everyone who attended; we are so grateful for our generous, kind and welcoming school community!

Home Beneath Our Feet (HBOF) is a local nonprofit farm that provides fresh, locally grown food to underserved communities. As part of the work-based learning initiative, high school students rolled up their sleeves and prepped the fields for HBOF's fall garlic planting. Students also helped the farm gather a harvest for the day and visited with the farm animals - a reminder that farming is not just about food, but about connection, care and community. Great job to all our students who helped on the farm!

Ms. Smith, Director of Instruction, collaborated with administrators and staff members at Roosevelt to create an immersive and magical learning experience for the third and fourth graders. Students entered the "Magic Treehouse" on the auditorium's stage and stepped into the first chapter of an exciting adventure. When the lights turned on, students were transported to the Jurassic Period and medieval times. Each class rotated to eight stations that tied into the story such as "Syllable Stomp" and "Medieval Matching." Thank you to this inspiring group of educators for bringing the "Magic Treehouse" stories to life! A special thank you to Ms. White, Roosevelt Assistant Principal, for transforming the auditorium!

Fire Safety

On Friday, October 10, Ed and Matt Jackson from the North Evans Fire Department gave a presentation about fire safety. Matt demonstrated what gear firefighters wear when entering a burning building. Ed also emphasized the importance of having an escape plan, checking smoke detectors and understanding situations when you should call 911 for help.

After the presentation, Ed and Matt allowed several students to try out their firefighting gear. Many students were surprised at how heavy the helmet, jacket and axe were when they held them.
