6.7.26 LL News: Summer is Here! 6.7.26 LL News: Summer is Here!

Dear Long Lake Families,

It’s bittersweet sharing the last Panther Family Message of the 2025-26 school year with you! It’s been a tremendous year of growth on campus and we’re proud of your students! I’m always so humbled by the community we share at Long Lake. The staff and parent partnerships allow us to do great things together! Over the next week, I challenge you to ask your child what their favorite part of the year was. For me, seeing the entire school at Boardman River Nature Center was incredible, or maybe it was the Coast Guard Helicopter, or our last House Assembly. Too many memories to count! Here's a quick End of the Year Video sharing some of those memories. As we close out the school year, I want to wish your family a summer filled with adventures (and a few good books)! Enjoy every moment of the sunshine! We look forward to seeing you at our Open House on September 1st.

Warm regards,

Kate

Any medication not picked up by Wednesday, June 10, 2026, will be picked up by the District Nurses and disposed of per guidelines.

If your student will be attending Summer Explorer’s Club or Summer Academy, please ensure that you pick up your child’s medication and a copy of the TCAPS Medication Authorization Form from school to bring to camp/school. Medication(s) will not be transported by staff between schools.

Summer Learning Resources

If your family is looking for a way to prevent summer slide, several resources are linked below. Over the summer, students loose skills gained during the school year simply because they are not using those skills regularly anymore. This is called summer slide and it can cause students to lose months of learning that was gained the previous year! It can take lots of time to regain those skills upon return in the fall, and by doing small practice activities over the summer, students can prevent that learning loss. We certainly want students enjoy all the fun that summer has to offer, but also engage in a sprinkle of academic practice too.

Mrs. Burwinkel’s Summer Challenge: Finish any summer workbook (you can choose one of the options below or another one your family finds). Turn in the completed book to school in September and receive a Medal from the school! Please write the students’ name on the front cover and send to school any day that we return. Your child’s teacher may have other ideas and resources for meaningful practice over summer, but below are links that might be helpful:

Preschool into Kindergarten: Prek to K Scholastic Workbook Prek to K Summer Bridge Workbook

Kindergarten into 1st Grade: Scholastic Workbook K to 1 Summer Bridge Workbook

1st Grade into 2nd Grade: 1 to 2 Scholastic Workbook 1 to 2 Summer Bridge Workbook
