The April 7, 2026 Newsletter
April 7, 2026
๐ Message from the Principal
Dear Janney Families,
I hope you all had a wonderful long weekend and were able to enjoy meaningful time with your children. We recognize that many in our community recently celebrated Easter and Passover, and we hope those who observe had a joyful and reflective holiday.
As we head into our final week before spring break, we want to thank you for your continued partnership. We know this is a busy time of year, and we appreciate your support in ensuring strong attendance and that students are present and engaged in learning each day. Every day counts as we continue building momentum in our classrooms.
April is also Arab American Heritage Month, and we are proud to recognize and celebrate the contributions of Arab Americans to our country and community. In that spirit, we highlight Kahlil Gibran, a Lebanese American poet whose words have inspired readers around the world:
โWork is love made visible.โ This is something we see each day in the dedication and care our teachers and staff bring to their work with students.
As always, if your family would like to share a cultural tradition or experience, we would love to partner with you.
We wish everyone a strong week ahead and a restful spring break to come.
Principal Singh

๐ฎ Thanks to our awesome Janney volunteers!
Janney families picked up 15 large bags of trash from Rock Creek Park on 3/21, diverting a large amount of trash from this important watershed. Best finds of the day included a dismantled shed, a car's side mirror, and an unopened Happy Meal toy - plus roughly a kajillion water bottles and snack bags. Nice going, volunteers!
๐ซถ Join us for a Janney day of service with We Are Family!
Join other Janney families for a volunteer shift with We Are Family DC, a local organization offering food delivery and support to more than 1,000 seniors in need. We'll gather to assemble approximately 300 bags of healthy, nourishing food to be delivered across DC. Kids of all ages are welcome!

๐ฒ Oh Rats!
The chickens need their humans to help them from a rat invasion! If you are up for a little shoveling on Saturday, April 18 please sign up here! Many hands will make light work - the job is to dig a little trench around the chicken run then put in new wire "cloth" to keep rats out. You will get a little egg-cercise(!) and kids can play while you are working. Thank you to Ellie and Jonny Rogers who are leading this renovation!
