News FromThe Middle
October 30, 2026 Volume 6
Last week marked the launch of our first Student Speaker Series, featuring Anthony Valentine, who inspired, encouraged, and guided students as they navigate their middle school years. Through storytelling and interactive demonstrations, Anthony connected with students and helped them explore the balance between academic pressures and emotional well-being. His message also reinforced the importance of building community, strengthening relationships, and supporting one another.
Our focus on community building continued this week with several fun activities and celebrations! Our Student Council hosted a pumpkin decorating contest and Orange and Black Day. Our eighth graders also participated in Word Up Day, where students were encouraged to dress as a word and bring its meaning to life. Faculty joined in the fun too. They also recognized participants with prizes during lunch. Finally, we also hosted several Rise Above Assemblies, celebrating students for their positive contributions to our school community. It was truly a wonderful way to end the week!
Please take a moment to review the updates below, and don't forget to turn your clocks back one hour this weekend as Daylight Saving Time comes to an end!
Parent Teacher Conferences
We are pleased to continue offering families the opportunity to meet with teachers either virtually or in person during our upcoming Parent-Teacher Conferences. These conferences provide valuable time to discuss your child’s academic progress, classroom engagement, and overall well-being.
Parent-Teacher Conferences are scheduled as follows and will be scheduled with all teachers on your child's team:
Wednesday, November 18, from 2:10–3:10 p.m. (in-person)
Wednesday, November 18, from 6:00–8:00 p.m. (in-person)
In addition, teachers have planned virtual conference options during the week of November 16th. The times for these virtual conferences vary and will be listed within each conference sign-up link that will be shared with families on Wednesday, November 4 ,2026 at 5pm.
For Grade 6-8 virtual conferences, families are asked to select one teacher to meet with. That teacher will report out on behalf of the team, and other team members may join the virtual meeting if available. This structure helps ensure that teachers can connect with as many families as possible. Please do not schedule a virtual appointment with more than one teacher.
Grade 5 families will continue to conference with their child’s team.
If you have recently met with your child’s teachers or are comfortable with your child’s current progress, you do not need to schedule a conference at this time.
On Wednesday, , November 4th at 5pm, we will release the conference schedule and sign up sheet. Please be on the look out for that document. Note that you will need to use a google account to register for conferences. If you don't have a Gmail account, you can make an appointment using your child's account.
Radium Girls
Thank you to everyone who attended Radium Girls this past weekend! Congratulations to our amazing cast and incredible crew for an unforgettable performance! We are so proud of the talent, dedication, and hard work of everyone who helped bring this production to life.
A special thank you to our teachers, Ms. vonJena, Ms. Keenan, Mr. Herbst, and Mr. Davidson, for their leadership and commitment to bringing high quality productions to our stages.
Finally, a heartfelt thank you to all of our families who supported this production, especially Mrs. Sara Miller, who designed the costumes and worked tirelessly to bring so many wonderful details to the stage.
What an incredible example of the talent, creativity, and collaboration within our school community! Bravo to all!
