As our first trimester comes to an end, I hope you take some time to reflect and celebrate all that you have already accomplished this year. You have taught and retaught our common expectations while holding students to high expectations with regard to safety and kindness. Your efforts to provide Tier I, II, and III are benefiting our students, and our students feel that support. Lastly, thank you for taking the extra few minutes to listen to our students throughout the day. This compassion connects them to their school community and creates a feeling of trust.

Enjoy your extra time off and be kind to yourself--you deserve it!

Gratitude For All!

Thanks to everyone for all you gave during our Thanksgiving Luncheon this week. Our students and families appreciated your kindness and the joy that you brought while either eating lunch with students. I feel so fortunate to work with such an outstanding staff each week.

Math Talks

Thank you to everyone that was able to participate in math talks with Joe Elsheiki this week. What a gift Joe is to our district. His knowledge is a great source of professional development for us. Additionally, he is always willing to answer our questions or research the answers if he doesn't know. He was so amazed by our St. Joe teaching staff and how far we have already come in just year two of implementation. My first takeaway was that our entire teaching staff is thinking deeply about how to serve our students the best that we can in math. Secondly, although we may feel frustrated with IM at times, we really do have the gold standard of math programs. And lastly, the visual representation of math is important as we move through our lessons. Modeling how to talk through solutions while providing those visuals will help push students to that next level of understanding. I've included an article to support our learning with Joe this week.

PTO Grants

Our PTO is anxious to see you spend your money on important items and projects for your classrooms. Remember that each classroom has $200 and each grade level has $500. I have the totals that each of you has spent. If you are wondering how much you have left, please stop in and see me. I am encouraging our PTO to fund more special projects, so let's get that money spent so they can see we are in need of these funds.

Google Spaces & Chats

Just a reminder that every Google Space & Chat could be part of the Freedom of Information Act if someone so chooses. Because of this, we need no details or names in the chats. These chats are for a crisis only. For all other behavior concerns, please use a note to the office. Again, this gives me a record of the incident and a reminder to follow up. With phone calls and text messages, these incidents can get lost in the busy activities of the day. Remember, the office staff are on all chats and this can get crazy if we don't keep them for emergency purposes. Messages should only include initials, place, and support needed. Ex: LK needs support in the art room. Thank you for helping us respect our students' privacy!

Stuff-a-Truck

Our students may not have met the goals that the student council set for our Stuff-a-Truck foodraiser, but they sure did an amazing job! Because of this, the student council leaders would like to reward our students with a silly outfit day on Tuesday. Let's have some fun and celebrate all of the food we collected to give back to our community. Congratulate your kiddos, and show your gratitude and support on Tuesday if you are up for it!

Visuals in Math

Take a look at this article to see how we can support our students' development in math with visuals and pictures. It's an interesting read! The name of the article is "

How to Spark Engagement in Math With Pictures"

✔️ Check List

✔️Double check your report card comments

✔️Stuff your report card envelopes with the report card, NWEA family report, and attendance letters if you have them. Report Cards go home the Monday after Thanksgiving Break.

✔️Continue using your office passes and media center passes! This helps me with follow-through on student incidents! It's nice to have a record.

✔️Read our Lincoln Family Blog to stay current on what families see from our school

✔️Relax and enjoy your break!
