What does a shopping cart have to do with state tests?

Why do state tests matter? Why do state tests matter?

We get it. Taking a test is not most people's idea of a good time. But taking state tests is a big way your student helps their school.

STATE TESTS...

  • hold schools accountable for providing high-quality education.
  • help schools and teachers see where they need to improve.

STATE TESTS DON'T...

  • count against your child's grade.
  • put school funding at risk.

Why take state tests? Why take state tests?

By choosing to have your student take state tests, you're choosing to help your school.

Schools and districts are accountable for meeting minimum participation rates for state tests. If a school/district falls below 95% participation in two or more content areas (English Language Arts, Math, etc.), for reasons other than opt-outs, their rating is lowered by the state.

Beyond state ratings, lower participation in state tests limits our ability to see where our schools need to improve. This can delay the changes needed to help students be successful.

CMAS, PSAT and SAT testing begins in April
