πŸ‘ Principal's Message πŸ‘ πŸ‘ Principal's Message πŸ‘

Happy Spring!

As we welcome April and embrace the warmth of spring, we are reminded that the end of the 2024-25 school term is approaching, bringing with it a sense of renewal and growth, both academically and socially. Over the past months at PGES, we have witnessed remarkable progress and achievements, and I am immensely proud of every one of our students for their hard work and dedication.

As we near the South Dakota Smarter Balanced Assessment on April 22-25 for grades 3-5, it's important to understand that while these assessments provide valuable data for evaluating our instructional effectiveness and identifying areas for improvement, they offer only a snapshot of your child's progress throughout the year. Our dedicated staff witnesses significant growth and achievements in each student daily, which go beyond what assessment data alone can capture. Therefore, I encourage you to take a moment to reflect on and celebrate the important milestones of progress, growth, and achievement you observe in your child. By dedicating time to celebrate these moments, we affirm the unique and wonderful qualities of every student at PGES.

As we enter the final stretch of the school year, let's continue to inspire our students to strive for excellence and prepare for the challenges ahead. I commend our teachers and staff for their dedication, and I wish everyone a joyful and productive spring season ahead.

Sincerely,

Amanda Goodrich

Elementary Principal

πŸ’‘ Student-Parent Handbook Reminder πŸ’‘ πŸ’‘ Student-Parent Handbook Reminder πŸ’‘

πŸ“΅ CELL PHONES & GIZMOS πŸ“΅

If a student brings a cell phone, a gizmo, or any other communicable device to school, it needs to stay in their backpack or locker throughout the entire school day. They are not allowed to be used during recess or lunch, and never to be taken into a locker room or bathroom. If a student is caught with such device during school hours, it will be given to the principal until the end of the day. Should a student become a repeat offender, parents will be informed of the situation and the school board policy will be enforced.

πŸ“ Standards-Based GradingπŸ“ πŸ“ Standards-Based GradingπŸ“

Platte Geddes Elementary uses a standards-based grading system. Students at each

grade level, specifically in the areas of math and reading/language arts, are instructed

using the South Dakota Common Core Content Standards. Students are measured on

their progress toward meeting those specific grade level standards.
