PHS Monthly Update
PHS Monthly Principal Update October 2026
Mission Statement
Plymouth Joint School District Pillars of Excellence
Academic Excellence for the 21st Century
Extracurricular Activities
Community Engagement
Financial Responsibility
🐾Hello PHS Families,
The month of September has come and gone quickly here at PHS. As we prepare for October to arrive, the focus this week is Homecoming. Homecoming is a time for students/staff/community to come together and show their Panther Pride. Please remind your children to act responsibly as they are celebrating Homecoming outside of Plymouth High School.
You will notice there are topics in this Update that were also in the September update; that is intentional. The more times we can share information the better, it's our intention to make sure you are informed.
Please feel free to join in our Panther Spirit this week, including the parade downtown and football game.
GO PANTHERS! 🐾
Joe Brandl
Principal
Plymouth High School
A NEW FACE IN THE OFFICE
Please join us in welcoming Erika Pichette to Plymouth High School as our new High School Secretary!
Erika is a lifelong Plymouth resident and proud Plymouth High School alumna. She brings nearly 20 years of experience working with and serving people in the community, most recently as the Wellness Coordinator at Generations Intergenerational Center. Throughout her career, she has enjoyed connecting with people, supporting her community, and creating welcoming environments for people of all ages.
Erika lives in Plymouth with her husband and their four boys. Outside of work, she enjoys gardening, practicing and teaching yoga, cooking, spending time outdoors, and making memories with her family.
Erika is excited to give back to the community that has been such an important part of her life. She looks forward to supporting Plymouth High School’s students, families, and staff in her new role!

ATTENDANCE
Attendance is important!
For students to be successful in school, we need them to be here! Accordingly, we are taking a proactive approach to attendance.
Under state law, parents/guardians can excuse a student from school for up to 10 days per school year with advance notice.
· School functions (field trips, sporting events, etc.) do not count toward the 10 days.
· Absences due to illness or medical appointments do not count toward the 10 days, as long as you provide documentation from the health-care provider.
Here's what you can expect:
· After 5 days excused: Informational letter noting that the student has used 5 of the 10 excused absences.
· After 10 days excused: Notice that the 10 excused absences have been used up and any future absences will be considered unexcused, unless medical documentation is provided.
All other absences are considered unexcused. If you find that your family is struggling with attendance for any reason, please reach out to me so we can work on solutions with you.
Friendly reminder ~ If you anticipate your student will not be in attendance, please call our Attendance line @920-892-5005 ahead of time (or the day of) to excuse them.
What other resources does Skyward offer non-native English speakers?
We’re glad you asked! Skyward Insider shared these additional resources bulleted below that you may find helpful for translating into Spanish and any other language:
- Herramientas de Recursos: The Spanish version of the Family Access Toolkit. It features video tutorials for parents and students.
- How to Translate Skyward Into Any Language: This article explains how to use a browser translator to translate Skyward into any language.
- Cómo Traducir Skyward a Cualquier Idioma: This is the Spanish version of the article above, discussing how to translate Skyward with a browser translator.
BUS NOTIFICATIONS
In order to streamline communication from Johnson School Bus to families regarding route interruptions, we've created two Remind App “classes” that you can join:
- Elementary School Routes
- PHS/Riverview MS Routes
Anyone can join one or both classes. Once you join, you will receive notifications or texts any time Johnson School Bus sends a message to that class.
Click here for instructions on how to install the Remind App on your smartphone to get push notifications, as well as instructions on how to sign up for text notifications if you prefer not to use the app.
PARKING / PICK-UP AND DROP-OFF ZONES
- School starts everyday at 7:35 AM and ends at 2:40 PM.
- Traffic with young, high school drivers sometimes leads to congestion. Please give yourself and your students ample time to make it to PHS on time.
- Here is a map, with blue arrows, showing where parents can pick-up and drop-off students.
- Please pull in all the way around, like the blue arrows on the above map show.
- We have the curb space so please pull ahead and do not leave large gaps in the line.
- We need to get every vehicle off South Highland Avenue, as soon as possible.
