Superintendent's Update
September 11, 2026
Dear CCPS Families,
What a fantastic start to the school year! As we wrap up our first two weeks, I want to thank our students, staff, and families for bringing such incredible energy back to our classrooms. Our fall athletic competitions are officially underway, and it's been wonderful to see our community come out to support our student-athletes.
As we reflect on these busy first two weeks, we also pause as a community to honor the solemn observance of the 25th anniversary of September 11th. We remember the thousands of innocent lives lost, honor the incredible courage of our first responders, and pay tribute to the spirit of unity and resilience that defines our nation. This is a time to teach our students the importance of service, bravery, and coming together to support one another.
Next week, we are excited to celebrate our nation's history, civics, and future with a district-wide Spirit Week honoring America’s 250th anniversary and Constitution and Citizenship Day! We encourage all students, staff, and families to join in the fun as we mark this special occasion together. Be sure to check out the graphic below for details on each day's theme.
Finally, I had the privilege of taking part in a very special celebration earlier today at Elkton High School. Alongside our leadership team, school administration, and students, we joined representatives from Hertrich Automotive to surprise our CCPS Teacher of the Year, K. Nicole Walker, with a brand-new vehicle!
This marks the eighth consecutive year that Hertrich Automotive has generously partnered with CCPS to sponsor a vehicle for our Teacher of the Year. We are deeply grateful for their continued commitment to recognizing and uplifting our exceptional local educators. Please join me in congratulating Ms. Walker once again for her outstanding dedication to excellence in the classroom.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support as we kick off another great year in Cecil County Public Schools.
Sincerely,
Jeffrey A. Lawson, Ed.D.

Update Your Details: Log in to review and submit your family's current contact information.
Note: If your child is brand new to CCPS this school year or transferred between CCPS schools over the summer, you do not need to take action. Your information was recently collected.
Thank you to everyone who has already submitted their updates, and thank you all for helping us keep our school community connected!
