🎆 July 😎 2026 Newsletter

Welcome to the dog days of summer! With this heat, the fireworks, and ALL the baseball and softball games - summer is definitely underway. We had another record breaking month in June and served the most amount of people so far this year. Check out our stats further down in the newsletter. That being said - we have faced increasing challenges with collecting non-perishable food, toiletry items, and household supplies such as toilet paper and laundry detergent to meet the increased need. If you would like to help with any of these items, please contact me directly and I can help you create a flyer and/or Amazon list for our most needed items.

Despite us being in the heat 🥵 of the summer (get it), registration for our 6th Annual Back to School Bash is currently LIVE through July 13th - do not delay - get your child(ren) registered today! We are also excited to announce our first Plant 🪴 BINGO fundraiser with Well Rooted Plants of Eastlake on Aug 6th right here at the FRC. This family friendly event will sell out. July 6th-17, 2026: AeroMFG Camp

For rising 5th-8th grade students

AeroMfg STEM Camp will be full of projects with a focus on aerospace and aeronautics, and will include field trips to local companies serving the aerospace industry! Some projects will include flying rockets, motorized thaumatropes, and moon rocks.

Time

Monday - Friday 9 AM to 3 PM, the last Friday of camp is 9 AM to 12 PM

** Last Friday is Celebration Luncheon only until 12 PM

Pricing

$450 per camper - spots are still available

Payment can be made by credit card or by check made payable to AWT Foundation, PO Box 123, Mentor, OH 44060. Check payments will avoid processing fees. Registration and processing fees are non-refundable. To pay by check, please contact Sarah Meade at sarah_meade@thinkmfg.com to ensure your registration is processed.

This summer, the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce is sponsoring SUN Meals, a summer food program where Kids Eat Free! All children ages 1 through 18 are eligible to receive free meals during the summer months at participating program sites. Individuals ages 19 through 21 who have been identified as having mental or physical disabilities and are following Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) through their current enrollment in educational programs also are eligible for free summer meals.

This FREE family fun event will include the following:

This event will take place indoors in the Commons.

This event is open to any family regardless of zip code/ city or income status. Everyone is welcome!

*Supplies will only be provided for students up to 12th grade. This event is not for students in college.

Based on your registration, a kit of basic supplies will be made for your student(s) based on their grade. It is important that you connect with us if you cannot make it or need to make other arrangements for pick-up.

School supplies are needed for over 300 children that attend our Back to School Bash every year. We pride ourselves on making sure that each student that is registered receives basic school supplies needed to start their year off on the right foot and with confidence. Visit our Amazon Wishlist today! Every little bit helps. Many hands can make light work.

Another way we help students and their families succeed is by offering them hygiene/toiletry items, clothing, books, and non-perishable food at our Back to School Bash. At the Bash, we essentially turn our WicKloset inside out, so that everyone that joins us has access to everything that we offer the other 51 weeks of the year.

💜 Ways to help 💜

• 📖 If you are clearing out your child's bookshelf and find some books in good condition, we'd love to take them to share with another child.
• 👚 Kids' clothing is also always needed. Especially clothing from sizes 2T-5T, and 6/6x through 14-16. We'd love to help parents get a head start on their child's back to school shopping with items that are in good condition, free of stains or rips, and recently washed. We also need NEW packs of underwear and socks - all sizes and genders.
• 🧴 Toiletry and hygiene items can be purchased off our Amazon Wishlist or through another store and brought to the FRC during our normal business hours.
• 🥫 We are also able to provide non-perishable food for our families. Items must be not opened or expired. Our most requested items are canned pasta (spaghettios, etc), canned meat, Hamburger Helper and other side dishes, pasta sauce and dry pasta, and shelf stable juice. You can find many of our staple items on our WicKloset Needs list through Amazon.

We have birthday cake kits available. Please use this form to request one. Kits will need to be picked up at the Family Resource Center of Wickliffe, located at 2255 Rockefeller Road, Wickliffe.

Cakes can be made using only the ingredients in the kit (no eggs or oil needed).

Kits contain

- 1 box of cake mix

- 1 container of frosting

- 1 can of soda

- 1 cake pan and lid

- 1 package of plates

- 1 package of birthday candles

- Directions for making the cake

Kits have been generously donated by Lubrizol, Good Deeds Ohio, and others. Quantities are limited.

We will call you once the request is received to arrange a time for you to pick up.
