Queen of Apostles School
Term 1 Week 7 - Thursday 19 March 2026
Fill my heart with joy, my mind with peace, and my spirit with energy to embrace each day.
Guide my steps, bless my work, and help me to spread kindness and positivity wherever I go.
With you by my side, I know this week will be filled with purpose and joy.
In Jesus' name, I pray.
Over the past few weeks, I’ve been spending time reflecting on what makes Queen of Apostles such a special place. What stands out most is the strong sense of community - students who care for one another, staff who go above and beyond, and families who deeply value the partnership we share in educating our children.
As we continue through the year, our work as a school is guided by a few clear priorities. In our classrooms we are embedding the Berry Street Education Model to create calm, predictable learning environments where students feel safe, supported and ready to learn. At the same time, we are strengthening our Catholic identity as we prepare to celebrate the rich faith story of Queen of Apostles during our upcoming 70th Anniversary celebrations.
Another important focus for us this year is community. Initiatives such as the new P&F Business Directory and plans for a community garden are wonderful examples of how we can continue to grow together as a school and parish community.
Due to the number of events and commitments currently taking place across the school, we will delay our Harmony Day celebrations (normally held around 21 March) until later in the year.
Thank you for the many ways you support our school each day. When school, family and parish work together, great things happen for our children.
Parent-Teacher Interviews will take place on Thursday 2 April.
The last day of Term 1 for students is Wednesday 1 April.
Students commence Term 2 on Tuesday 21 April.

Student Representative Council Meeting – Student Voice
Last week we held our first Student Council meeting for the year, where representatives from each class shared feedback gathered during their class meetings. It was wonderful to hear students speak so positively about their school, highlighting the calm environment, strong relationships with teachers, playground opportunities, Mass and whole school events as things they enjoy most at Queenies.
Students also shared thoughtful ideas about how we can continue to improve our school. These included keeping shared spaces tidy, improving sports equipment and exploring opportunities for student-led activities such as tournaments, clubs and environmental projects. It is fantastic to see our students taking pride in their school and contributing their ideas as we continue to grow together as a community.
The end of the term is fast approaching, and we are nearly a term into 2026. As part of our reporting schedule, we are offering parents the opportunity to discuss their child’s progress with the class teacher through our Parent Interview Day.
Teachers will be providing parents with a link to book a 10-minute interview on Thursday 2nd April (Pupil Free Day). For parents who are unavailable on this day, please see your child’s teacher to arrange a more convenient time. Links will be sent out after 3.30pm Friday, 20th March.

P&F Business Directory
Our P&F have also launched a new initiative to develop a Queen of Apostles Business Directory. This will provide an opportunity for families who own or operate businesses to promote their services within our school community and support one another locally. Families are invited to complete the online form if they would like their business included.
ICAS 2026
ICAS is an online academic competition that gives students the opportunity to challenge their higher order thinking and problem-solving skills in English, Mathematics, Science, Writing and Spelling Bee.
ICAS results are in-depth and meaningful, and ICAS evaluates student performance against other competition entrants across the state and nation. The data reveals student strengths and weaknesses and can help you recognise and support your child's academic journey.

Volunteers
The Government of WA have amended the Working with Children Act last year with the changes implemented to better protect children. Catholic Education WA has mandated this process for all volunteers, including parent volunteers in schools. This includes parents who wish to volunteer at sports carnivals, in classrooms and at P&F events. Could we ask that all parents fill in the Volunteer Declaration (link) even if you have no plans at this stage to volunteer at school. Parents who wish to assist teachers on excursions will need to be on this list. Your information will be stored securely in accordance with CEWA’s Information Stewardship. We highly value parent volunteers' time and contribution to our school community and thank-you for taking the time to submit the form below.
Any grandparents that wish to volunteer in the classroom or assist in the canteen will need a Working With Children Check. Please note this does not include drop off, pick up or attendance at our Grandparents Mass and Morning Tea. Grandparents that would like to volunteer at school, please contact the school office and we can assist you in the process.
Interschool Swimming Carnival Success
Congratulations to our Interschool Swim Team for their fantastic performance last Friday at the Fremantle Leisure Centre. Our students demonstrated great skill, determination and team spirit, with many strong performances in the pool. It was wonderful to see so many place ribbons coming home on the bus—along with two outstanding individual medals.
A special congratulations to Charlotte (Year 4), who was named Champion Girl, and Evie (Year 5), who achieved Runner-Up Champion Girl—an incredible achievement for both students.
At training, our swimmers worked hard on finishing their races strongly, and this dedication was clearly evident on the day. In many events, our swimmers powered home in the final stages to improve their placings—an excellent effort.
A big thank you to our families for their ongoing support, both in getting students to training and for coming along to cheer on the team. We also extend our thanks to Mr Yock for his support on the day, and to Belinda for her assistance at the scorers’ table.
Queenie’s finished in an impressive fourth place overall, just 13 points behind third—a fantastic result.
Well done to all involved!
