Major's Minute

This Saturday, Amber and Braden Begonia had their baby shower. Although, we weren't able to be there in person, we were facetimed in during the opening gifts. By the way on behalf of Santa Clara church, they received a Hello Kitty stuffed animal and blanket, a Baby shower book, and a Noah's Ark story book. Everyone was having fun and enjoying the games and the revealing of the presents.

But the most exciting part for us, is when someone joked at the end of the party, so, aren't you going to tell us the name of the baby now? And they replied, Yes, followed by screams of joy!! As you can see from the photo above, their baby girl's name is going to be Miley Alaula Pearl Begonia - each letter of the name represented by one of the grandparents. M is for Amber's mom, A is for Braden's mom, P and E are for the dad's. Amber and Braden gave so much thought to the naming of their daughter and the meanings of the name are:

Miley - A joyful light

Alaula - A sacred beginning

Pearl - A treasured soul

Begonia - A blooming legacy

There is power in names. What we call ourselves, what we call others, what people call us, what people call other people ... but you know what God calls us when we are His?

Beloved children, set apart, chosen, holy, loved .. the list is endless.

What do we call God? Sometimes, we stop it as Friend. Provider. Healer. But God wants to be known by us as Father, Leader, Deliverer, King, Worthy, Loved, and so much more. Let's continue to seek his Name, so His name and character will be on our lips and our hearts and we will KNOW HIM.

7 I will give them a heart to know me, that I am the Lord. They will be my people, and I will be their God, for they will return to me with all their heart. Jeremiah 24:7

Men's Retreat @ Camp Redwood Glen, August 15 - 17 Men's Retreat @ Camp Redwood Glen, August 15 - 17

This is going to be a fantastic weekend for the men of the Golden State Division. Those attending this retreat will be blessed by great teaching, workshops, worship, fellowship, and of course… lots of great food. The men of the Golden State division will also be giving a warm welcome to our new Divisional Leader – Major Michael Zielinski.

The guest speaker for the weekend will be the dynamic and spirit-filled man of God. Rev. Dr. Robert Marshall – Senior Pastor the Los Angeles Community Church. Along with his wife Donna, the Marshalls have served at Los Angeles Community Church since 2013. Robert earned a Master of Theology degree from George Fox Theological Seminary in Portland Oregon in 2005, and he completed a Doctor of Ministry degree from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in 2016. He is a regular speaker at conferences around the country and brings the Word of God in a powerful way.

Saturday Evening will be a time of fun and fellowship with guest award winning comedian Dennis Gaxiola. One of America’s funniest clean comedians, with two Dry Bar comedy specials ranked in the top ten, including his new special at #1. With over 20 television appearances and 150 million views on social media, the Air Force veteran has toured with the Latin kings of comedy and the Fluffy tour. Comedy is Dennis' gift, but his relationship with Jesus Christ is the driving force in his life and he uses his comedy as ministry for groups.
