The LMS Express
October 4, 2024
Hello all,
Not that there was any doubt, but school is officially "in full swing" here at LMS. Our fall sports teams have past the halfway point of the season, our clubs are well attended and active, and our first EA rotation will end next week. Teachers continue to work to make classes engaging, and students are bringing the energy and excitement every day!
Being a part of Unity Day for the first time was an incredible experience for me personally. All of the many smiles and small moments of students and teachers coming together to have fun and enjoy each other's company reminded me what a fantastic community we have here at LMS.
Please come join us for our Open House on Thursday, October 17th! More information below. I hope to see you there - please say hi if you're able to make it.
Be well,
Tom

Flu Clinic Forms will be sent home with students next week. You only need to complete and return the form IF YOUR CHILD IS GETTING A FLU SHOT at school.
There are plenty of FLU and COVID clinics in our community. Both APD and DHMC are offering clinics from September through November. Appointments are required. You can visit APD or DHMC website for more information. Vaccines are provided at low- or no-cost wherever possible, and financial assistance options are available.
COVID vaccines are not yet available. Stay tuned for more information.
If you need another copy of the Flu Clinic form, please ask your student to stop by the nurse's office and she will give them one.
LMS Music
A great collaboration between Mrs Garnham's class and Mr Terry’s class this past week! Here students played keyboards, guitars, bass guitar, and had an opportunity to sing!

Pick-up & Drop-off
Thanks to all you car drivers for your cooperation and patience with our new traffic pattern. We have found that it has been successful up to this point.
Please keep in mind that there is no left turn allowed from Moulton Ave into our traffic loop from 7:00 AM to 7:30 AM. We have had some folks disregarding this, and this is not fair to those drivers that are following the proper route. Please be respectful of the expectations, just as we ask of students. Thank you for your attention to this.
There is no supervision available for students prior to 7:05. Please do not drop students prior to that time as a matter of safety.
When in the traffic loop, please continue to pull as far ahead as possible before students get in or out of your vehicle. This helps the whole line keep moving, and gets folks where they need to be as quickly and safely as possible.
As a reminder, the pick-up line is typically gone by 2:40 each afternoon. If you're looking to breeze in and out of the LMS traffic loop, arriving at 2:40 (which is also when left turns are permitted off of Moulton Ave) could be a good option for you.

Picture Retake Day - Tuesday, October 22nd
Retake day is for anyone who may have missed the initial picture day, OR for anyone who was unhappy with their original picture and would like to give it another try. If a student would like the retake photo to replace the original photo, please have the student return the original picture package to the photographer on picture day. We will replace the original package at no additional cost.
Handbook Reminder - Excused/Unexcused Absences
From the 2024-2025 LMS Student Handbook
Extended Absences/Vacations
Parents/Guardians are discouraged from planning family vacations while school is in session. Please make plans that coincide with school vacations and holidays because it is difficult for students to make up classroom learning activities when a child is absent for an extended period of time. Permission is granted by an administrator, and a written request to the main office for a student’s work two weeks in advance is required. It is the student’s responsibility to notify teachers and collect assignments. It is the student’s responsibility to submit the completed assignments upon return to school. Failure to obtain permission and to request work two weeks in advance will result in absences being unexcused.
Sight Words Bingo
Students in Mrs. Karabaic's Reading Methods students worked on recognizing and identifying their newly acquired sight words using Sight Word Bingo and beans as markers for their bingo boards.
LMS Community Tree
Our LMS Community Tree is growing! Each leaf represents an incident recognized for living out our LMS PRIDE values. Mr. Renninger is close to finishing the tree (with the help of one of our students), and Ms. Marcoux will continue to add the leaves. How many leaves can we get this year?? (Hint: a lot!)

Every fall, thousands of Granite Staters lace up their sneakers and walk together through the city of Concord to stomp out the stigma and unite under the rallying call: Mental Health for All!
